Hard drive retrieval

I don't believe so. If it comes to that I'd get an ubuntu live CD.

I am aware of how the drives fit in the caddy etc. I emailed the author of the software telling him I did not have the alesis firewire and he replied

Hi Jerry,

Sure, hooking up the drive through USB port should be fine for HD24tools.

However if your HD24 claims the drives are not formatted properly, it
might be that the controller boards of the drives are blown. If there
is a hardware issue with the drive, HD24tools probably will not be able
to help much.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

After HD24tools installation you'll need to do some setup depending on
which platform you're on (windows/mac/linux). I'd say, do the install and
we'll go from there.

Best,

Well no luck so far, going to give it one more shot before I send them out.

No luck? At what stage?
Did the computer recognise the drive at all?

I got the HD24 up and running again, still working on the retrieval, all is not lost yet.

I don't believe it was ever lost! Once I got the HD24 up and going it recognized the drives. The new one is software version 1.23? The one I brought over is 1.03. It won't recognize the drives. I think we have to update the software on the older one before it will see the drives.

Well, it was lost if you couldn't get it ;)
