Hard-Drive reccomendations?

I'm going to pick up another one - I currently have a WD 300GB deal, but its IDE and 8MB Buffer.

I'm looking at a 250GB SATA 3GB/s deal, WD Caviar - any suggestions before I click the purchase button?

Its good!

Yeah, not only do SATA drives go faster and have smaller cables, the sound so much cooler than IDE ones.
When you listen to HDDs for 3 days straight, that makes a difference...

Or maybe I'm mad.

Yeah, the latter looks to be more correct.

I have the 200 gig caviar and it is solid. I just use that for storage though, my work drives are all WD raptors. I would choose speed over size

I don't think any particular hard drive is gonna make your music sound any different.

I think he's talking about the actual physical sound of the drive platter spinning. Some drives are noisier that others. At least I hope that's what he's saying.

I went with a 250GB WD Caviar - I prefer the 200GB over the RPM's for $50.00 less bucks, in comparison to Raptors.

Yeah, I was talking about the actauly, physical sound that comes out of the hard drive spinning...

Sounds much more industrious than an IDE drive...

I'm mad, but i'm not mad enough to think that a different drive will effect the signal on it...

But I suppose I should have clarified. My bad.

I've gone through alot of HDs in my time. If you're looking for the closest thing to silence (IMHO - quite important when mixing), check out the Samsung 2504c. I just bought four of these for under $400 (yes that's 1 terabyte) and they are quieter than two of my Seagate 160gb 7200.7's.
