hard drive question

i'm planning on adding a 40 gb slave drive to my computer. it's either going to be a maxtor or a western digital. at first i thought i'll put my not-so-important files there like the music videos and the large video games i have. that'll free up the main hard drive (80 gb partitioned 3 ways in 40/20/20 slices).

now my question is, should i install my recording software (sonar and reason) in the main hard drive in one of the partitions, or should i instead install it in the slave drive?

someone correct me if I'm wrong but...

You shouldn't install the recording software on the same drive you are going to record to. It's simpler for the computer and will be more stable.
