Hi Folks,

I've been experiencing some annoying issues where my hard drive is being accessed by some other process on my computer while im recording in Abelton Live. The hard drive flickers like crazy. This only happens occasionally (usually just after I boot up) This of course is causing all problems with audio play back.

I'm using a 3 month old laptop which is running a stripped back version Vista business.
So i was wondering whether someone could suggest a tool (software) in order to find out what is access my hard drive at these times (Cos task manager doesn't tell me a thing) or any other suggestion that my fix my problem.

As you can probably guess it is really annoying.

Thanks for any help in advance.

It's more than likely your OS. Any business OS has a lot of things running in the background all the time. I don't know if anyone has done it yet, but there used to be a website that would tell you how to set up XP for audio apps. Google and see if you can find one for Vista. Also if you can, get that business version off your laptop.

go get an external drive too (firewire)....record/playback from that. You shouldn't be using a laptop's internal drive anyway.

Dittos to this. Another thing to do is remove all the spyware and make sure you're using the right drivers.
