Okay...there's got to be a better way to do this...unfortunately, back in the "day", this was pretty much the only way to get tracks on to my mac. Here's what I've been doing...

I've been taking one track at a time from a finished tune and playing it while connecting via guitar cord from recorder head phone jack to input (mono) on the back of my Mac Powerbook G3. I've been usuing SoundEdit (practically extinct, don't know if you can even buy it anymore) to do the mix, assemble the tracks and save to an .aif file which I can burn to a cd for play in any cd player.

This is all fine and good, but there has got to be a more efficient way to do this! Is there any way I can just connect my Roland VS-880EX to my mac, play it and record the file as an aif? Short and sweet?

There was a company called airworks that had a product called VS/Link that allowed audio file transfer through SCSI.

I set a client up with it, and it worked fine. BUT their web site appears to be dead.

Check out some VS forums to find out what happened to them.

If you have sound card with SPDIF you can record 2 tracks at a time.

But it's not the same as transferring a file back and forth between machines.
