What?
No video to go with the song?

I'm not gonna listen.

Kidding.

As usual, you have a great tune here.
And I liked the acoustic guitar at the end...

I think the vocals could be a little more up-front, like on all the other songs.

But considering your recordings to mine, I will now shut up and say "You The Man!"

:D

First class all the way around. I was worried at the begining with guitar on one side and the vocal on the other but when everything fired up I figured out where you were going with all that. As usual two thumbs up.

Thanks guy's, I wish I had the time to do an animation to every song. Its fun to imagine what the characters would be doing in these songs. I can produce about 3 or 4 animated music video's per year at best. thats about one for every 5th or 6th song. Always a hard choice.
I think your right about the vocal level. Think I'll ride them a touch higher.
Cheers.

Excellent, man! What's your gear, anyway? Is this a band, or all you? Sounds solid as a rock!

giving suggestions would be a waste of time, because listening to your mixes, it's apparent you know what you are doing.
therefore....we'll call them opinions, thoughts, etc...instead in this post.
The drums (and potentially the whole song) kinda remind me of some old Who, for some reason...except for the vocals. The gtr is kinda grungy, kinda home recorded sounding, but has the polish on it to let it reside in a professional sounding mix. I especially like the verses best, and that would seem to be a good sign..eh? Not much else to say, except that I enjoyed it.....I'd like to hear some gtr leads sometime;) ...but, I suppose 3:10 is the perfect time for a commercial lil ditty like this..

We are sort of a band. I mean there's me and Phil. I write the music and he writes the words. I play the guitar and bass and some percussion stuff and he plays drums and sings. but I sometimes sing too. see, the only thing I can't do very good is drumming. Thats where Phil came into the equasion. And he happens to have a better voice and sings better too.

Hey mixmkr, I'm thinking of a guitar solo in the end section. Maybe. Its just that I always need a really good reason to put in a guitar solo. Since I do them so often in the past.

Most excellent, Scott! :)

Would it be safe to say that you guys are Midnight Oil fans?
I hear their influence in this song... which is very, very cool.

I'm very impressed with your ability to make the most out of the recording equipment you have. It says alot for your engineering capabilities.

Keep up the great work! ;)

Yes we both are Midnight Oil fans. Also the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, The Who, Queen, Deep Purple, Foo Fighters, Sound Garden. Probly missed a few.
We think there's a small part of all of them in our songs.

I see a Hunter S. Thompson video to go with this.

Lizards morphing into barmaids.

Bartenders morphing into John Ashcroft.

Yasser Arafat morphing into Ariel Sharon.

Audio commentary. The stuff sounded too harsh between

1:10 and 1:23.

The rest of it rocked hard!

Loved that Jethro Tull thing at the end!!!!!

I think the song suffers a bit from mp3-artifacts.. Still sounds good tho.. Drums could use some detail and punch. What do you use for overheads?.. other than that.. very good, and a good performance.

good tune, like the vocals.... just a good to go tune.

mild grunge-ish. A hit perhaps....

cool

Meshuggah: What do you use for overheads?

I',m using a single rode classic II high and in front of the kit. I then convert it to a stereo file and delay a bit right to left. I also compress and eq a bit too and some cooledit full reverb. The one thing that I am happy with drum wise is the kick. Has a nice airy punch. But I guess I still need to work a bit on the rest of the kit. Apart from one really good mike, the rest of my gear is very average. So I'm constantly challenged to get a better than average sound. The good thing is I learn more this way.

B.SABBATH: good tune, like the vocals.... just a good to go tune. mild grunge-ish. A hit perhaps....

Thanks mate, I do tend to go for that polished grunge sound on guitars. Sounds contradictory- polish and grunge, but maybe grunge is the wrong word, I really mean angry sounding.

I have most of my songs up on my website now plus Phils lyrics too.

By the way, someone has used the music from one of my songs (The roses and the wine) on a Toyota comercial here in Australia the other night. Don't remember giving them permission but I don't mind anyway. Its good publicity. And like Mick Jagger always say's about the same thing - once a song is released its up for whatever use and cover versions etc. Most of the time money filters back down to the artist via APRA (Australian Performing Rights Assosiation) or something like that. So its ok.

Cool stuff, Scott. Brings me back to the days of true 'alternative' music. Recording is super clean, which is awesome. Mix is definitely solid - cool guitar tone. The vocals are fine in the mix for my ears, though something about them doesn't seem to blend as well as the instruments fit together, but I can't say how or why (and therefore don't have any suggestions -- I'm useless, I know). Also like the chord progression at the end of the chorus -- caught me be surprise. Overall, a great recording and a fun listen.
