I've recorded and posted this before, but it was a long time ago and it sucked. I've been playing this song live in various arrangements with various bands for damn near 20 years now. Since it's Halloween time, I figured I'd record it again just for kicks. Tracked it all yesterday afternoon and mixed this morning, so it probably needs tweaks. Anyway, enjoy if you can. :drunk:

Nice, bright, with lots of really cool parts throughout. Mix/Surf-ness is great. I've been here 6 years but I don't remember this one. I might have brain damage....lol..... I've had it on replay a few times now...
 
This is very cool! I really have nothing to add production wise. I'd downlaod it as is for 99 cents based on a first hearing.

This sounds great. The drums are fantastic and the main guitar bit has just the right sound.

It seemed to me as though the high, stabbing keyboard parts in the middle lagged a bit tempo-wise, but at other times they sounded dead on. Could just be me.

Thanks a lot heat. It's not just you. The keys are messy at times because I'm a total hack on a keyboard and it's triple tracked goodness of me banging on keys with one finger like a freaking retard. :laughings:
 
Well it's new to me, and I loved it! Killer stuff. I know you're a drummer first, but I have to say, I love the way the whole mix holds up, especially the bass guitar--it keeps it's own distinct place in the mix and never gets lost in either the guits or the drums. That's tough for me, so I tend to notice it. Nice work. Very nice.

Lol. I used to be better on piano but I haven't played it in forever. I was never good, but better than what I am now. I used to spend a lot of time listening to Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis trying to figure that stuff out. I shoulda took lessons.....on something.
 
As it is (without decent headphones), I don't have any nits.

Could use some snarky lyrics about kicking babies or something though. :D

The interplaying lines are terrific.

It may be just a wee bit bright/toppy when the keyboard is happening but my ears are trash at the best of times so it's just a vague impression.

Thanks Ray. The brightness is intentional. I've been on a heavy duty surf-punk kick lately and that's literally all I've been listening to. There's two very common themes in the genre - reverb and light bottom ends. Most of the time you can't hear the kick or bass at all. I don't wanna take it that far, but it was fun making a mix like this.

Lol. Thanks. You gotta catch some episodes man. It's a silly show and the plot is basically the same in every episode, but it's a classic. Their car is fucking awesome.

very well done.. im thoroughly enjoying this and i lve the clarity.

it might just be me, but the high end sounds a bit harsh to me and i'd pump some more bass, but hey, thats just what i'd do!
