Thanks mate, the zoom h2 looks good, also came across the Swissonic MDR-2, need to find out a bit more about that but the price is attractive enough

It has several advantages over the H2 for not a lot more. Phantom power for one. I like to be able to use any mic. I use it all the time. Even the built in mics are good. Thanks, Hairy Larry

BudgetMC Spread the Love, People! Feb 1, 2009 #5 I've got the H2... it's mics are pretty good, given the low cost. Slap a 4gig card in there, and you can record a fair bit, even direct to WAV files.
