Half year of trouble...

Ok, please reply this time. I still have problems. I have had problems about half year now. I'm starting to get sick of this. I bought a new hard drive but it didn't help at all. I did some testing. I had pre-recorded three tracks of audio and played them with Logic. Result, of course, was awful. Sound files are 24bit 44.1Khz. Then I recorded them using Logic's master track. While recording sound was clipping and distortered. Then odd thing happened. I closed Logic and played the new mix with winamp and NO CLIPPING! Sound was clear and there actually was only one small pop. How can this be?!? I have really big problems with playback and recording. What can be wrong?

Here is settings I used: I used only asio driver (audiophile's). No other audiodrivers selected. I checked 20/24bit recording, software monitoring, larger process buffer, larger disk buffer. If you want to know my specs, look at my previous post.
 
...seems to me it is positively, without a shadow of a doubt, a Logic problem, or the way Logic is interfacing with your driver.

Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with Logic - installed the LE version that came with my sound card, and I didn't like it.

I know you probably don't want to hear this, but you may be better off with another recording app, as the company was bought out and Logic's Windows support is being phased out (if I understand it correctly). Unless you shelled out major bucks for the Platinum version, I'd consider switching before you get a lot of time invested with Logic ...hell, 6 months is already a long time.
 
Well I tried Cubase VST also wich I still had. Audiophile had problems with VST too. Don't know what's up. I still try tweaking with logic and also with (free) pro-tools. And if that doesn't work well... ..I don't know. Pentium 5 9000mhz, 12000 RAM, 5 hard drives might work :) But seriously send me more thoughts what might be wrong here...
 
Okay. If Cubase doesn't work either, then I'm pretty sure it's got to be the ASIO driver. It's unlikely that it's the card itself if you can play via winamp with no problems.

What OS are you using?

And my OS is now 98. Within half year it has been win2k several times :) I'll try XP soon or install win2k.

And it seems that I have to find new motherboard. Can you give me some examples. It doesn't have to be the newest and best. Just good for my specs and audioworking.
 
logics master bus is very 'hot' meaning it records loud so i'd guess its play back is loud...did u try lowering the volume?

Man I feel your frustration. It tool me a month of Sundays to get Logic working with my Delta 66/Omni set up on Windows Me. I spent 6 months on this site begging and begging for some help. In the end it turned out to be a stupid little setting that took one mouse click to correct.

I could have punched my monitor right in the "face".

Now let me give you some advice that will help you far more than fixing your problem. You need a 180 degree attitude adjustment. What is up with this: "*yawn* Read the northensounds forum, third post "??? There is a fucking wealth of information and a huge collection of great people on this website, and the one thing that I learned first and foremost was, you DO NOT win many friends, nor do you make people want to spend their time helping some 34 post twirp that is up here demanding answers, telling people what to do, and just having an over all "where is my answer guys" attitude. This is not the Logic Hotline, nor does anyone owe anyone a thing.

So chill, learn to ask your question(s) in a thurough, precise way that gives everyone all your information at once i.e. RAM, Motherboard, HDD speed, OS, driver type, driver version, everything down to weather your mouse has a little rolling wheel or not. And especially put down what you have already tried, and any previous versions of another software that did or did not work. This would cut out at least 50% of the posts in this thread and it might help you with your frustration level.

And this is a personal one, but don't be trying to send me through tons of links to read previosu questions asked by yourself. If the question is still unanswered, then we either don't know, or the question was shit to begin with.

Just my two cents... I hope I didn't sound too aggressive or whatever. I honestly do feel your pain, because I was in exactly your shoes a year ago. And someone said to me almost exactly what i am saying to you (c7sus). So back off, have a Coke and a Smile, learn to meditate or whatever and increase your patience.

Hey, did you see the smiley end of my post :) I was only half serious, but it is true that I was little frustraded at that time and it was late night when I posted that message. So you should also relax. I hope that new motherboard will fix things so I can finally get into composing...

Sorry bro but I agree with pisces. You ask for help and then we're supposed to go chasing your other posts to see if we can help? The proper thing would have been to respond to him either by saying you'd already checked that out or that you hadn't. If you're too lazy to type in a response to someone who took the time to try to help.....I guaruntee we're not gonna exert any effort to trying to find out what you need. And we don't care how late it was....rudeness is rudeness no matter what time of day it is.
 
I feel your pain. You & I are in the exact same situation right now (read my threads if you like). I have spent 5 weekends now trying to get my system to work with no luck. Tomorrow I upgrade to XP & if that don't work, new mobo. Please let us know if you find a solution. And pisces7378-what was the mouse click that did it?
 
Lt. Bob, thanks. Hallatar... I wish you well, and I do hope that the new motherboard gets you up in running as fast as possible. But if it were only the one statement with the smiley face next to your post, then I wouldn't have said anything. A sour attitude can be spotted a mile away after a few months of chilling out on this site.

Coplinger, my problem was simply a latency setting in the control panel of the sound card. I was only able to record like 4 tracks with a few plug in effects on each track and then my Pent III 933 mHz 128 MB RAM produced an ASIO overload. I was too new to digital recording to know what any of it meant. So I spent 6 months on here asking and asking and asking. Finally one of the coolest guys on this board (thanks Ashley) helped me see that one setting. Poof I was in one mouse click in business with 10+ tracsk all with reverb etc... I could probably get many more than 16 or so if I didn't use reverb plug ins.

I can't help Hallatar. I read his post and I am not knowlegable enough to help. Only by reminding him of who he is and who we are.

Good luck though man. Keep me informed.

I can't get your sample mp3s, but I may have the same problem.
Audiophile + AMD + XP btw.

A lot of static and crumbling noise if more than one app is open, and if gigastudio is open alone, then it's ok but starts clipping a 4 or 5 poly.

The Unity piano that shipped with the card sounds like it's going tp blow my desktop speakers.

The best way I can describe the sound is that windows is trying to add reverb onto giga and unity and can't pull it off so the reverb is clipping and rumbling all over the place.
