My band plays tonite and I sprained my ankle. The other guys don't want to cancel the gig so we are playing. They will roady the gear and set us up.All I have to do is drive and play.
In college jazz band we played sitting down but thats been a long time!
I'm going to try a barstool.I still have to work my midi pedal to change patches on my processor, though. So its going to be a bitch. What are your best "show must go on" tales?

First of all, good luck at the show and report back on how it went.

Not much of a fiasco but a real disappointment, my band once played out of obligation before a crowd of two. It was just prior to a 3-day Memorial Day weekend in Boston, the place was deserted and the club scene was pathetic. The two guys must have felt pretty sorry for us because they stayed and clapped for each song. During the same "show" my amp failed. I ended up plugging directly into the PA - no distortion, no effects. What a joke it was trying to play rock music that way. I'm at least glad the failure occured when it counted least.

Hope it goes well. I'd say to heck with the barstool - get an upright chair, something to rest your foot on, and wrap the sucker in a couple of ace bandages - loose, mind you - so the audience sees it. You won't need any explanation and you can turn the whole thing into a running commentary on the effectiveness of Tylenol and bourbon, or something like that. The next comment can be Tylenol with Schnappes. Tylenol with bartar (Guinness). Tylenol with Wild Irish Rose drunk out of a used ashtray, and so forth... Turn it to your advantage by making it a prop.

Besides, it'll hurt less...:D

Wheelchair! Then stand up as if the music brought away your pain!

Nothing against Guinness, you understand.
Some of my best friends have been pints..:D

Well,I did the gig and it was a bad idea.Even the minimal walking I had to do set me back it terms of my ankle getting better.Live and learn.Next time I'd be a little more selfish and cancel.
