Hi,
I would like to learn more about the differences in sound between different guitars w/o spending weeks trying out all the guitars in my local musicstore. Do you guys now if there are any sites out there with soundclips of different guitars through the same amp so that you can compare the sounds of all the classic electric guitars? To be honest, I hardly even know the difference in sound between a Strat and a Les Paul.

Would you really want to rely on someone's recording to make your decision for you? And it really shouldn't take weeks to find a guitar I'd say a good day or two should widdle it down to a couple choices.

No, if I was to buy a guitar I would of course try lots of them out first. But right now I would just like to get a general idea of the differences in sound between different guitars. There must be some site like that out there, like "thelisteningsessions.com" but for guitars.

Here's a site pimping a stompbox but there's two guitar players, one with a couple of Strats with different pickups using different p/u positions, and one with a Paul, both with different amps and such.

It's a point of reference.

Sound is one factor, but the reason I choose a fender over a gibson is based more on feel/playability. There is no download site for that data, unfortunately.

I'll second that. Once I even started to consider a Fender Strat it still took a few days and a dozen+ different strats to find the ONE I wanted.
