guitar tracks pro problems

i am lining out from a Line6 Vetta into my mic input (line input doesnt register any track readout) of my very standard built in sound card (VIA technologies, comp: micron millenia 1 ghz). what i hear coming out of my speakers is exactly what would come out of my cabinet, but after i record a track, it sounds like my guitar is detuned or very bass-y. what would cause this? can't figure out what would be different. the program warned me that i couldnt have my audio driver bit depth and file bit depth set as high as possible cause my card wont support it. and guitar tracks pro support team are unavailable til feb 9th. any help is much appreciated. thanks - dave

Why doesn't your line in work? Are you using onboard sound? Looks to me like you're in need of a soundcard upgrade

maybe, but any idea why the sound coming out of the speakers pre-recording isn't the same post-recording? this problem only occurs on playback of recorded sound.
