I have a Fostex MR-8 compact flash recorder that when I record on and play back, the recording sounds exactly the same in the headphones as when I recorded it (totally natural). I'm starting to use GT2 so I can get a better feel for computer recording but I'm finding it's quite different from using my Fostex machine, in that the sound seems changed a lot on playback (more colored, much less natural-sounding) than what I heard in the headphones while I was recording. Is this something inherent with computer recording? Maybe I need a better sound card? I'm looking forward to working with GT2 a lot more and getting a feel for drum loops, adding tracks, etc., but I was wondering about the change in sound quality I mentioned.
