I usually direct record my guitar through a Digitech BP-300 pedal, which gives me a somewhat good sound. However, going direct doesn't give that warm organic sound we all strive for, and I don't really have an amp that's worth recording (Marshall CD-15).
I just got a tube preamp for recording vocals, a Presonus Tubepre. Is it possible to put this somewhere in my chain to warm up the sound a little? I've done some experimenting, preamp before the pedal, and the results were less than desirable. I thought about putting the preamp after the pedal but I am hesitant about putting a line strength signal into the preamp.
Any suggestions? Or should I just record the Marshall live?
Thanks.
