guitar synthesizers

I hope this is the right forum for this, as it seemed to be more related to sound modules than guitars.

I am very interested in the Roland GR-33 guitar synthesizer. Mainly so I could be able to "play piano" through my guitar. Much easier than learning how to play piano. :)

I was wondering if anyone knows of other guitar synth units that are comparable to the GR-33, and maybe even cheaper.

thanks.

But just so you know, the 33 is tops!

The GR33 is about the best sounding and tracking unit available. I used a GR09 (an earlier version) which sounded and tracked very weel - and would be less costly (used) than a GR33

Remember to include the cost of the GK2A pick-up - which runs in the $200-$250 range.

Also, a Strat style guitar is the best for proper mounting of the pick-up. It mounts best if you screw it in (vs. useing adhesive) - so it is normally best to use a cheaper Squire Strat (or some other copy) rather than drilling holes in a good Strat.
