GUITAR STRAIGHT from AMP

I know this is just not meant to be done, recording a guitar straight line in from the output of an amp. I mean i am a guy that believes in miking as much as possible but i heard this band called 18 visions and they record straight in to the mixer and it sounds quite good considering! I was just wondering if you know of any other bands that have done this.

A lot of bands do this, but they normally use a red box or other speaker simulator.

What you need (and it's been done for decades now) is a direct box from your amp speaker terminals, you can build one easy enough, or purchase one at any good music store. Just make sure it can handle the low impedance speaker input. Check out any pro-audio section of your local music store they should have them, they're around $30 or so ...
