I want to boost my guitar signal for leads and drop back down for rythm parts without coloring the sound too much (if at all). I've been looking at the Hughes & Kettner Tube Factor. I own an Ibanez TS-9 but this doesn't seem to be doing it for me. I've also discovered the BSM-RM and Legendary Tones Time Machine in my recent research. Any advice here? I bought a Boss ME-50 and am not digging the sounds out of it at all. I play mostly classic blues based rock--Allman Bros., Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Gov't Mule. I'm not looking for any kind of super heavy distortion. I play a Gibson Les Paul Special and a Fender Strat (Mexican) with Texas Special Pick-ups installed through a Peavey Classic 212 tube amp.

Thanks,
Bill

If your quick on your feet, try a volume pedal in the mix too... so when you kick into your solo you turn on the Fx you like, and just turn up the volume.. Be careful though, I played with a guitarist who kept falling over whilst trying to turn too many things on with his feet and still kick butt with his solo!!

Have you tried using one of those 7-band (or so) EQ pedals? You should be able to boost the volume that way, and you could more or less compensate for any unwanted coloring, too.

Do a Google search for Jerry Garcia's wiring on the Tiger. Jerry used a buffering amplifier connected to a push/pull knob on the guitar.

Instant jet-engine!
