If i get Line 6 Guitar Port will i be able to use it as a soundcard with a recording software (Cubase, Pro tools...)?

Since it has input level and so much more do you think its better than the Edirol UA-3D ?

I know it doesnt have RCA outputs but I plan to burn the songs onto CD's?

Also does anyone know if there are RCA inputs on the Guitar Port?

And can you please share your opinions about either?

from reading the product description, it seems like a gimmicky toy. If it was me, I'd spend the cash on a real recording soundcard. It seems you don't care about multiple inputs, so a MAudio Audiophile 2496 might be a good choice for you. I use one myself, and I think it's great. You'd still need some type of DI box for your guitar, but I think you'd be happier in the long run. Isn't gear shopping fun?

GuitarPort is for playing and recording guitar on your computer, period. Anything else you do with it will be subject to the inherent problems of trying to use something for a purpose it's not designed for.

But its a device, so it can be used on Cubase. I know its not a real soundcard (recording one) but if it can be used, do you think it has more to offer?

More to offer than the Edirol as a direct guitar recording tool? No doubt.

More to offer for recording anything else -- Definitely not.

I'm talking about under $200. And in case it matters, I will use a 10-track Berhinger mixer and send that to the one input.

Well, it sounds like your mind is already made up, but I just want to point out that the card I suggested is only $149, and is useful for much more than just recording guitar. I just think depending on the GPort alone would seriously limit you much faster than you think.

Thanks alot, but actually I'm leaning more towards the Edirol or one like that

Well, it's great, IF:
*everything you want to send to it is Hi-Z (at the same level as an electric guitar) (hint: not your Behringer)
*you want everything to sound like it went through a guitar amp

For everything else, most any soundcard will be better.
