Guitar plug in help?

Hello peeps! OK I have a question and hopefully it can be answered here. Here goes:

A friend of mine plays electric guitar (and records it) and his recordings pretty much sound like poopie. It is mainly because he has total crap gear (both guitar and soundcard). I do realize that crap in = crap out but he is not in a financial position to buy better equipment. His recording sound is, well "tinny".

And here is my question. Are there any plugins out there to warm the sound up a bit? Or make the guitar sound fatter? Or just make them a little cleaner?

Short answer: No

Slightly less short anwser: Check out amplitude, its a amplifier modeling pluging and they have a demo version and a free version online...
 
you need a direct box to get the most out of it.
