I second the "Guitarist" choice.Best guitar magazine I've ever laid my hands on.

I used to subscribe to quite a few music related magazines,but I got sick of reading glowing reviews for a product,followed by a two page ad for the same product.I figured all I was really getting,was a three page ad.

I have received GP for years off and on. It is a bit stuffy, and old-fogish but I found it decent value. It won't likely appeal to a teen though, with interviews with the likes of Allan Holdsworth (who?) and Jeff Beck.

They have done some really good gear shoot-outs / reviews over the years. I still have all these copies around here, thinking that I would refer to the "Greatest Billy Gibbons riffs of all time" etc etc.

They now have a pretty decent website integrated with their lessons as well...

Something about Guitar One always reminded me of a "Teen Beat" magazine.

I've never read Guitar Player, but from what I remember of Guitar One it was pretty trashy at times, with horribly inaccurate tablature. It also never ever ever gives a bad product review, ever. Considering the amount of crap gear on the market, I wouldn't mind actually reading an unbiased, fair, and honest review every now and then. I'd rather learn from my own experience and people who actually know their stuff. On the other hand, it does include some cool posters and pics every now and then.

Well, there's a reason that bad reviews don't turn up. Usually, the manufacturer has a look at the review before it's included in the mag. If it's not a positive review, the magazine usually leaves it up to the manufacturer whether or not they want to allow it. Of course, it's usually in the manufacturer's best interest avoid the bad review, even if it does mean giving up good exposure.
