I was in Seoul, Korea 2 weeks ago on a business trip....
anyway, before I went, I've heard that guitars are cheap in Korea, especially those Korean made ones... (duuuhhh....)
In fact I've set my mind to get a Tokai LoveRock, IMHO, it's the best LP copy and it's handmade! (I've tried one before).
When I was in Seoul, my colleagues recommended me to go to this complex to get guitars. The complex specializes in selling music instruement... it has 2 level full of stores just selling musical stuffs... just awesome... felt like I was in Heaven!
guitars, bass, cello, piano, recording stuff... you name it!
anyway, I search high and low but they don't have Tokai guitar!! (some newer Tokai models are actually korean made).... so I start checking out other LP copy.... I ended up getting a Hohner Rockwood Pro 200... best among it's peer, definately better than a epiphone and just US170!! really love it, nicely built, smooth neck and great sound. only thing is it's cheap looking tuners, anyway, I am not complaining!
however, I notice that Japan/US made stuff are expensive.... I can get those cheaper in Malaysia.
I have a good experience there.... for those that might be going to Seoul, check that place out... it's call Nak-wan-san-ka (means music instrument complex, or something like that...) located in Jung-ro-3-sam, Seoul.
Just wanna share...
