I am waiting on my first order with them. I've seen a bunch of their work and have heard absolutely nothing but great things about them. I called with questions well before I was ready to place and order, and Tommy, the owner, spent a ton of time with me discussing different options, asking about my style, what guitars I liked, etc.
When I finally was ready to order, he told me he had the right piece of wood in mind (I paid for an upgrade to a 5A quilt maple top) and was just incredible to work with. I was told it would probably be about 3 weeks, and then got a call 6 days later to let me know the body had shipped. The neck will be a little longer, but since the body takes longer to finish anyway, he shipped that (bodies are quicker to produce as well).
The prices are better than Warmoth, and the customer service thus far has been unreal. When I asked about scraps for testing the dye I am using on the finsh, he said he'd throw some in there. When I talked to him yesterday about the body, he told me to call if I need more. I asked about his suggestions for the finish on the neck, and he gave me his ideas, then told me to call if I wanted to when I was ready to start, and he would walk me through it.
Tommy worked for Warmoth for a while, and some of the folks in his shop have worked for
the Fender Custom Shop, etc. All in all, dealing with Tommy and the shop has been an amazing experience.
My order:
S-Body (Strat style):
Vintage tremolo (ordered a Callaham bridge)
H-S-S pickup configuration
AAAAA maple top
Alder back
3 pots, one 5-way controls
1/4 jack on side
Rear rout (no pickguard)
Neck:
Figured Madagascar rosewood fingerboard
Maple back
Paua shell inlays
12" radius
Sperzel tuner rout
1 11/16" nut width
22 frets
Assymetrical contour
.890" thick
I think that's everything. It's not going to be dirt cheap, because of the quilt top and some of the components, etc., but it's going ot be a SWEET guitar.
