I'm curious what type of guitars are in your collection and which one is your favorite of the bunch. Do any of you people own a Parker? If so, how is it for recording purposes? My humble collection has the following... A 1972 Fender Telecaster Thinline ... a 1980 G & L F100 (signed by Leo Fender) ... a 1977 Yamaha FG335 dreadnaught acoustic ... a 1979 Ibanez Roadstar Series II bass w/ active electronics ... a 1978 Ibanez RG300 (Les Paul) ... and a 1997 Godin Acousticaster. I'd have to say that the ole' Yamaha acoustic is my favorite, since 75% of the songs I've written came from that guitar. The Godin is the one I enjoy recording with the most, the sound is sooo sweet and unique. What kind of axes are you guys (and gals) pluckin' and strummin, and what's your "pick of the litter"?<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Hi

I see you own a Yamaha FG335.Can you tell me any info about the construction of the top of this guitar, ie: is it a solid top? and what kind of quality of a guitar is it ie: price range and finish?
I've been offered a FG335 but don't have any info or knowledge of this model number.
Many thanks in anticipation.
Cheers

Allan

Guitar and bass a'kwip'ment list:

Ibanez Les Paul copy - Says 'super 70's' on the neck. DiMarzio super distortion in the bridge.

1999 Epiphone Les Paul - Totally stock.

Samick Acoustic - Black, with Martin Thinline Gold + installed.

Fender American Standard Jazz Bass - Stock.

Ernie Ball/Music Man Stingray Bass - 1987, I believe. Natural finish, Volume, Bass and Treble only. Great bass! Why on all Stingray basses do the D and G strings not split the pickup pole pieces directly down the middle?

My own bass - Fender MusicMaster body, BadAssII bridge, Fender Pre-CBS P-Pickup.

Hope to add a Godin LGX soon...

1985 PRS Custom Quilt Top w/Birds
1986 Kramer Pacer USA w/Chandler P/U's
1976 Gibson SG
199? Japanese Stratocaster w/alnico
198? Ibanez Strat
Taylor 412
Alvarez Thin Acoustic/Electric.

My Kramer has a Warmoth Birdseye maple neck
and feels and sounds very vintage.

I think PRS is over-rated. Mine is appraised
at $4.5k - $5k...give me a break! Paul himself sat in with my band about a month ago
at his wife's hunt club party and he played my Jap strat for about a hour. He was kinda miffed that I didn't have my PRS with me but he obviously enjoyed playing my Strat.

I play my Kramer and Jap Strat the most. Maybe I'm a strat guy but I played my PRS religiously for 10+ years and my SG before that.

Call me crazy but the absolute best local guitar player I know was playing a Montgomery Wards (I think) Skylark the first several time I saw him. His name is Kajun Kelly and he owns two of them. So, you know, play what works best for you. Am I overstating the obvious?

I wish there was a message icon with tears .
You guys are making me cry remembering all those wonderful old guitars I used to own . Where shall I start ,one of those old banana colored mahogany body Les Pauls with 2 P-90's
An old Epiphone Casino that I refinished to look like John Lennons ,boy that thing howled through a stack of Marshalls , A Guild Manhattan X175 TD that was their version of a Gibson 175 that also had 2 P90's only cream colored , a Gretch White Falcon that had little red stones in the knobs and a telescopic Bigsby and the most amazing thing about it was that the frets were angled after the 12th fret but it was realy in tune . I also had a few Strats, one with brass frets and a Fender Esquire .
Now I have an Ibanez Jem jr.that I adore another Ibanez strat from the eighties and an Alvarez steel string as well as a Hirade classical with beautiful Rosewood and cedar .
If you will excuse me now I have got some more serious crying to do .

Collection ay....let me see

Spanish Acoustic (one of those fat neck ones)

Old Ibanez (with custom neck, it feels amazing but the pickups suck, someday i will replace them)

Custom ESP neck thru (main guitar)

Samick somthing (i hate this guitar, i only have it because a friend who started then stoped playing guitar gave it to me, i'm waiting till i can afford one of those Roland midi converters)

Cort SB70(quite nice, it was donated, and then re-setup)

Thats it...

What a humbling experience. Most of you guys with all those guitars can NOT be married or have kids... I have a Yamaki 6 string acoustic which I bought in the early '70s which is my favorite guitar. I've had no desire to replace it, but have had lots of mods (bridge, fingerboard, nuts. Fishman). It's beat up as heck but it has the story of my life written on it. If I ever lost it there'd be a funeral on my street.

I'd been looking for a Yamaki 12 string and finally found one in the proverbial pawn shop. Cedar top--this one just springs to life--never heard anything like it. I had to do some repairs to it but it's an amazing instrument.

Attilla bass--neck through design with EMG active pickups and a Badass bridge. Small-run hand made, late '70s I believe, local instrument (Vancouver).

Strat plus with Fury pickups. Next mod is to replace those crappy tuners, but the guitar plays itself. It's an eye popper, with midnite wine body, tortoise pickguard, black pickups and rosewood neck. Very smooth playing.

And an old mandolin that I plunk on from time to time.

So nothing to write home about, but this mix suits most of my needs. BUT...sooner or later I'll find a Tele Thinline and that will round things out just fine.

Good question. I've had a new Seagull M6 (Mahog. back and sides w/Cedar top) for two days now, and am leaving work to see how it records this evening.

I run my 77'Fender Musicmaster Bass, and 99' Fender Jazz through a Sansamp DI to my recorder.

wow... suddenly my salary seems like it's about 1/100th of what it needs to be...

Epiphone ES 335
Fender Squire II
Yamaha FCC 411 SE
custom made mexican mandolin
Yamaha bass

and I sort of want to get a carvin DC 127... anyone have experience with these? I hear they're outstanding guitars for the cost...
