What did you get?

I picked up a Boom Mic stand for $90 (normally $140) and one of the Behringer Headphone Amps for $39 (normally $99).

I saw 2 of the MPX220 Lexicons for $129 apeice, not bad but I didn't need them. Lot's of cheap guitars.

The free guitar giveaway was a really ugly Black Les Paul Epiphone. You might see a bunch of these up on ebay in the next week cause they were butt ugly...

I ended up preempting the sale by a few days and trying to get some deals beforehand while nobody was around, and ended up with a matched pair of Oktava mc012s, 3 boom stands, 3 20 foot cables, some much needed vic firth iso headphones, another 57, and various other doodads all for about $550

Yeah I did the same thing. I went in on Friday and picked up a bass amp figuring, OK, these guys are in the mood to move some equipment this weekend. Got them to come down $170 off the in store price.

I just went in to day to see what they are really desperate to get rid of.

i picked up a brand new BLUE Dragonfly for $399 and a pair of BLUE blueberry mic cables for $9 each. all told, something like $425. I can handle that. :D especially since it was gig money i was spending. i about crapped my pants when i saw the dragonfly at $399.

i've always wanted a dragonfly (loved the way they look and sounded on others' recordings), but wasn't up to the realm where i could "justify" an $800 mic in the home studio......but i could easily justify a $400 mic. ;) even the wife (who doesn't quite understand this whole recording thing) was like "you should get that".

just got it home a few minutes ago--plugged it into the sym528 and was immediately BLOWN AWAY by the difference in quality over both my V67 and EV RE38--two (admittedly different) mics that my voice had previously "favored" (and my voice doesn't "favor" much). i haven't stuck it in front of my martin or an amp yet, but the night is still young.

the only shitty thing now is that i've gotta work on my singing and the rest of my room to bring it up to par with my gear.

cheers,

Gotta love when the wife says "yeah you should get that"!! Wednesday, my new vintech 1272 should be here. So Guitar Center was out of the question but I can chill for a few weeks. Congrats on your purchases. Next on my hit list is neuman u87 or avalon ad2022

Nice score on the Dragonfly. That should make recording a little more interesting for awhile.

LOL....interesting. that's certainly one word for it. another i might use is "much more satisfying". :D

while i definitely wouldn't call this a "dark" mic by any means, it's got enough of a scoop in the "right" spots that sure make my voice not suck through it. definitely diggin it.

can't wait to get home tonight and do some acoustic recording....and then throw it up over the drums later this week or in front of our sax player's sax at practice. :D

cheers,

Damn. I love that Dragonfly. Good score.

I got there late. Did get a Korg DT-7 tuner (the one w/ the buzz feiten~) for $20. I've got no idea why. I've got like 8 tuners at my house. Fecking impulse buys.

Funny, I have a guitar strap fetish myself. I have like 5 straps that I've never even used yet.

i got there late too. i live about an hour away from the one in Richmond (va), and didn't roll out of bed until around noonthirty.....didn't get there til about 2pm. apparently there were 2 dragonflies for $399 as well as a blueberry for $499--one of the dragonflies and the blueberry both went out within minutes of opening.....but the other dragonfly hung in there til i got there.

call it providence

Hey, another guitar strap freak!!!

I've got at least a half dozen that I no longer use. I keep finding straps that feel better or look better with a given axe.

There's got to be something wrong with me - I don't buy guitars because of the way they look, but then I'll buy 3 differet straps to "look good on the guitar"

A Dragonfly for $399 is incredibly awesome. Congrats bargain shoppers. :) It's a very good value at the usual street price.

I'm kind of bummed to learn just now that I missed out on a dirt cheap headphone amp.

The store had 3 for sale. I'm kicking myself not picking up another one.
