Ok I have an mpc2000xl and play keyboard, lead guitar, and bass guitar. I know how to record keys, but how would I go about recording guitar on the mpc. If I can't can you tell me how would I go about doing that and letting mpc sequence it.
thanks

You can`t record guitar on a MPC......
You can of course use the buildtin sampler , but you`ll run out of memory pretty fast.
The MPC is a MIDI sequencer, not a harddiscrecorder.
When you are "recording" keyboard into it, it`ll only record the MIDI notes and values, and play it back through the keyboard.

If you only need short loops of guitarsounds and riff, you sample them as when you do drumsounds.

How much memory does the 2000 have anyone?

Do you have a computer hiphoper?

There are many programs you can use on the computer to sample guitar riffs onto. Then you can use the MPC to trigger the playback of the recorded sounds in a sequence. I believe sound forge can even do this. But Samplitude should work for the sampler for sure.

The MPC2000's can have 32mb of memory max.

To playback guitar recordings using the MPC your best bet is to record using a computer and dump the file to the MPC as a wave file.

Do you have recording software? You can cop a few for free of the web that'll do what you need.

Midi on your computer? If your software supports sample midi dumps (sds) then you can send the file from you computer to your MPC without a ZIP drive. The MPC can recieve sampls over midi. You gotta set it and your computer up right.

How's about a zip drive? Got one. A must have for a MPC. You can cop one for the low on EBAY.

Record the file while playing along with the MPC beat. Edit it on the computer and then dump to MPC.

You might have some problems sync these up but if you tinker with the tempo and wave file trim you might can make em match up.

IT'S TOO MUCH WORK IF YPU ASK ME...
