I have been looking to buy an amp and someone lent me a Fender Deluxe 85 to see if I want to buy it. He told me to make him an offer. The signal cuts out now and then, with loud buzzing. Wiggling the cord doesn't seem to do anything. Should I buy it? Is this likely easy to fix? I sort of would like to buy it and fix it, because if I buy another working amp who knows when it might get the same problem..

Depends what you have to pay for it I guess. If an amp randomly craps out on you it aint going to be very reliable. I would take it into a guitar shop and get them to look at it. See if you can get a quote for repairs. And use that quote to help you decide how much you want to pay or if you want to buy it at all.

IMO, don't buy it.

Wait for an amp that works to come along.

it's a fucking cheap fender. It's not worth the gas to the repair shop to have it repaired.

Hi, It's Bob from Australia. The fault 'sounds' like an input short, check the cable, guitar output jack, and amp input jack. If someone tripped over the cable at some time, the metal tongues in the jacks can lose strength. Wiggle the rts plug around in both jack recepticles, and see if you can duplicate the fault. If you can, there's your problem! Bob
