ps, I'm off to download schematics and parts lists so he can build me a couple more pre's hehehe ;)

I´ve been buying from over the bond with no extra expences at all,
-sure smaller items like capsules or transformers, doesnt interest local customs and why should they. I have an impression that you can send
items as samples in limited quantity for example, or for repair or
whatsoever as long you stay withing reason.

Matti ?

I'm in...

Chance, I sent an email through your profile, but I thought I'd drop a line here. I'm interested in this preamp group buy...how do I get in?

(I'm an active gearslutz member, hence the low post count here on homerecording)

Hi Chris, at this point all you do is e-mail Chance at musicians DOT workshop AT gte DOT net and put TnC GEAR in the subject header. When things are at the point of rolling out the gear choices, there will be a mass e-mail to enrollees describing the terms and choices of the group buy. So if you've already done this, all you can do now is hang out and kibitz on this thread and the older group buy thread. It went reasonably smoothly for the mic buy last year, all things considered. I'm a GS member also (as are many here) and we thought we would try and rustle up a bit more participation in the buy as it should serve to bring the price down for everyone. Welcome!

to stop the spam bots from attacking it

edit: Just got the test email by the way :) I know its just a test, but I still got excited.

Am I reading that right? That the distortion is 0.5%? Or is that a typo and it should really read 0.05%???

I was wondering the same thing, I've had B-ringers that were more quiet.

I hope the are going for the COLORED sound.

anyone know where i can find a small review on these things? I know someone wrote a small review on it, but I can't seems to find it.

You know someone who wrote a review on these? (I have a loss for words)

^^ cool.

While you are at it, it would be interesting to know why the distortion spec is only from 50Hz instead of from 20Hz.

Another spec question to throw into the call..... The D/I frequency response is listed as 100Hz - 20kHz. I'm wondering if maybe this is also a typo or is there some crazy curve going on below 100Hz.

The reason I ask about these is because I plan on using it for bass D/I so if there is funky stuff going on in the low end I think it would be good to know about it.

I don't want to sound harsh.... just been going back and forth on this with the wife and trying to build the best argument as to why I should buy something I've never used before! LOL. I tend not to pay attention to specs, but in this case it's all I got :)

I got the specs for the 61 & 84. I can't upload,,, so,,, you know the drill

Someone should be posting the specs for the 81 & 84 shortly.

I just got off the phone with the manufacturer and yes there were other errors too. The engineer told me that the distortion not more than 0.5% is at +26db max output, at 0 dbu output it is 0.05% at 0dbu output THD is from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The Di is 20Hz to 20kHz

Again THD is .5%. I'd like to think that's a typo, but it bears checking.

FWIW, the EIN of the ACMP81 (-120dBu) appears the same as the RNP for the mic input. That compares with an EIN of -129 for an API 512c and an EIN of -125 for a Great River. The EIN for AMS Neve modules (1081 and 1084) is -125 dBu.

The clipping level (headroom) for the ACMP81 is +25 dBu. For the RNP it is +26 dBu. The clipping level for the API is +30 dBu.

The figures for the ACMP84 are better with an EIN of -127 and a clipping level of +26dBu.

Hey, since they don't really exist yet in distributable form, we need to be able to entertain ourselves, right?:D

You may have missed this that Chance said:

Yup. Missed it. Much better. Teach me to keep up with the thread:D

All things considered, the numbers look quite respectable.

Now that specs are in...

Chance, are we pretty close now to placing orders with you?
