are you a Moderator?

Do you have a little yellow flag by your posts? If not, then I'm not a moderator.... :D

But seriously, I think this is getting way out of hand here. This guy made what I assume was an innocent mistake, which was followed by three pages of flame wars that only serve to detract from the purpose of this thread. A simple "cut it out" would have been sufficient. There's really no need to invoke orally imbibing bodily appendages to make that point.

I'd say MsHilarious's original comment was about where this digression should have ended. Everything after that is just clogging the thread and burying potentially important discussion in the noise... like my attempt to get Chance's attention about my payment problems, like the IMHO somewhat interesting characteristics of the hum itself, etc.

Brad, for future reference, the right way to spin this would be "I've found that you can do [blah] and [blah] to significantly reduce the hum. Here's what you need. [Describe the fix here.] If you aren't able to find the parts yourself, I'd be willing to buy them and assemble them for you for a small fee. My email address is [blah]." I think that's far enough removed from being a dealer that most folks wouldn't be bothered. No mention of what the fee is itself, providing enough information that people can do the fix themselves if they choose, no call to action, etc.

BTW, Brad edited the post some time ago and cut out the commercial aspect of the post entirely, making this much ado about nothing.

Well, I see everyone has the Christmas spirit. LOL
I think if a post is constructive, what is the problem? If it is offensive, ignore it by not replying. Personally, what brings me here, is ideas, fixes, and discussions related to what WE put together in this GB. Splitting hairs brings nothing to the table and profits no one knowledge wise. It was suggested to use my website. Well,, it's hard to kick ideas around and discuss and share things on a website. The vast majority of all of the past GB's has been from those who post here. Until now, there has NEVER been any complaints. Lucas Engineering and Tab Funkenwerks is making upgrade kits for all the mics (for profit) but these kits make the mics absolutely steller and they do not post as free advertising. I feel that it is a service to let everyone know what is available out there.
My whole mission in doing these GB's is to bring the cost down to everyone. Times are tough, gear is expensive, and we need to grow. Way back when the C-12VR came out, I got one and it made me sick. $4500.00 a waste of money. I did the first GB, and someone who got the HST11-A posted his findings. (he was VERY upset) He was upset because after opening up the mic, he discovered that the $98.00 mic he got in the GB was exactly the same mic that he had purchased for $1500.00. There is still a website out there with the pics and story. I am not going to knock other brand names, but I got tired of brand names ripping us off when times are bad. It is my intension that the big brands will go back to making quality mics that are worth those big bucks.

Chance, if at any time you want a dedicated TnC forum as a central hub for the TnC gear, I can create one for you.

This thread doesn't seem like a reliable place to have as the central hub.

warranty service?

:D:D:D

what planet are you living on?

i'm pretty sure

we bought this stuff

"as is"

So....you can't read or you choose not to. Which is it?? Do a search. I won't spoon feed it to you.

Yes.

Warranty.

Earth.

OK, now back to your Cannabis, cannabis.

that sounds like a good idea..if hes trying to launch a product line, the least he could do is host a BBS..

I disagree with the starchy shorts brigade.

In a normal retail advertising transaction, you read the ad, you buy the product, MAYBE you post a review but probably not.

However, these group buys are just that: a GROUP!!! It is not an accident that this forum and several others have devoted space to it, precisely because there is a simultaneous, broadly-based, community-wide dimension to the buy that normal one-on-one retail transactions don't have.

This quantitative difference makes a qualitative difference in what is actually under discussion.

Now we can certainly discuss what is appropriate for posting and what is not, and draw appropriate lines, especially in the light of some less-than-ideal execution almost entirely on the manufacturing end.

But the idea that if money changes hands we've somehow got to ignore the entire process and pretend it ain't there, well, that's a little too rigid and small for the occasion, and I disagree with it.

If a preamp has a buzz, then a customer has a problem. If 400 preamps have a buzz, the entire purchasing community has an interest in the resolution of the problem. And that's why we're discussing it here.

Cheers,
3rd&4thT

I offered him the same thing a long time ago and he didn't seem very interested. Oh well.

views in the Cave count?

Views everywhere count. Google really has you where they want you, and I don't even want to know what their take is, I imagine it's not small. Still, some dollars for the site owner is better than no dollars . . .

Here's a post....

to take us back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Even though I thought I would be last on the shipping list due to my request (being on deployment). However, today I received a green "yes" by my "invoice available" line. It's paid, so I suppose my wife will be receiving a very heavy box with 4 pres and 4 mics....what fun!

I suppose I'm not last - sorry guys...I was actually enjoying/empathizing reading the posts over at the "support group" thread. I suppose it won't be very long for everyone else now.

Another question, however - about 3-4 pages back I asked about the status of fixes for the ACMP-81...where are we on this? I don't have the internet connection or time over here in Iraq to go on much of a searching expedition all over the web. Could someone point me at the latest status on this. Bottom line for me is what is the projected way ahead after shipping completes. I won't be able to use this stuff really until April - but if there's no "generally accepted" way ahead to remedy the 81's noise/electronics problems by then, I'll be selling them right away. I'm sure they're fantastic pieces, and I was looking forward to using the preamp and its EQ capabilities as a hardware reamp/EQ sculpt stage for final mixes. However, between being in the military, doing gigs every weekend, doing church music every Sunday, and a growing schedule for local musician session scheduling (at least it was that way when I deployed) - I don't foresee any time for DIY electronic tinkering.

Anyway - just wanted to check in and say that one more GB member is now looking at a couple of green "yes's" today.

No problem, as long as it's not a solicitation for goods or services.

Because no one has solicited goods or services.

And it's perfectly fine for you to do that as long as you're not getting a cut. It would have been perfectly fine for you to post that Brad had a $35 fix and point to a website or something as long as you don't get a cut.

People are saying it's a gray area and the size of Brad's opportunity is small. But it's pretty clear. You cannot offer your goods or services for money.

Probably so.

There was a cut it out but then Brad didn't edit his post or cut it out, he defended his position. The self-moderating forces said, "Hey cut it out, can't do that here."

I think if you go back and look for "flames" ('cept for Gidge, but that's how he rolls) you won't find much. Most of it has been a respectful discussion of what's appropriate.

Yes, but does it have to go on and on and on.....

You guys have made your point, Brad has left the building, can we please get back to the group buy? Please....? :)

Merry Christmas!
