Hi Chance. I think you posted over at the PSW forum about the next group buy. Are the mics going to be available this next time around? I didn't get a 1200 and now, with the mods, I'm wishing I had. So will I be able to get a couple of the ACM1200's and will the mod kits still be available?

I'd ask over at PSW but my registration doesn't seem to be going through. Can't post. Thanks.

yea, i'm kicking myself in the ass for not jumping on board and getting one of the 1200's...the pres would've been nice, but that's the one i'm really wishing i had gotten in on

I'm in the middle of a drum session with ACMP73's on K in/out, ACMP84's on snare top/side with a tiny touch of EQ on the top snare mic, and ACMP81's on OH. API's on HH and Toms, Biz on Room.

All I can say is............

You must believe me when I say no matter how long it takes to get there, it will be worth the wait X's 10.

The burned in 1200's are sounding phenomenal on OH as well. Getting close to the Gefell's that are my favs. Maybe I can put some clips up if lucky.

i've asked a couple of times about what the deal was with getting the replacement ribbons....
I'm just holding off until Chance gets his head above water. He's still swamped with shipping orders for the current batch of products, and it's taking longer than expected. He's doing an amazing job for us all, so I'm perfectly willing to wait. And, btw, I've been waiting a year longer than you - I first discovered the stretched ribbons in my pair of HRM-10 mics purchased in the first group buy. I've had them for more than two years now.

Then yesterday I opened up my ACM-2 from last year's group buy and discovered that it, too, has a floppy, stretched ribbon. I haven't opened up the ACM-1 yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it had the same problem. So far, that's at least three of my four ribbon mics showing stretched ribbons.

This year I didn't buy any ribbon mics. Instead, I bought two more ACM-310s, and those are working just fine. :)

Take your time, Chance. Let us know when you're ready to revisit the ribbon issue.

In the meantime, I was able to reseat one end of the ribbon in the ACM-2 so that it stays within the magnet structure as it's supposed to. It doesn't completely correct the problem, but at least it makes the mic usable. I also replaced the transformer with a Lundahl. A friend of mine wants to use it in a session, so I thought I'd better try to fix it up for him.

I had my pair of 1200's up on Thanksgiving--they were burning in from the night before. I patched 'em in through my pair of 73's that morning, but didn't do a whole lot.

My brother and his kids came over Thanksgiving evening, and as always made their way into the studio to mess around. :)

Just to play with my 9 year old niece, I recorded her banging around the drum kit--using the 1200's and 73's that were up and ready.

WOW!! I was fairly well blown away. Listening back to the down and dirty tracks, it sounded like she was still there beating on the kit. I can't wait to have a real drummer in and use these babies on the kit...

I posted just a few posts ago that I am taking things one step at a time so as to get everyones gear out ASAP. After everyones gear is shipped, I will take care of the ribbons and shockmounts

I thought you were shipping them with this order... I missed that.

yeah, i should probably re-state my own desires for extras from way back when...

Oh yeah...if there's any extra 73's--you want 'em. I'm selling my son into slave labor right after the holidays so I can fill a rack with 73's on the next group buy.

(Dear Lord,

Please let there be another group buy, and please let there be another run of 73's.

Thank you.

Hey Strat... So I guess you won't be parting with any of yours... I missed out on the pre's this time around, but I'll get one on the next group. Hoping Chance still has the energy for it.

Has anyone tried an SM7b with the 1073 pre's??? Would love to hear opinions on it.

Cheers,

Nope, not parting with either of the two I bought. I wish I'd have bought 8. Seriously, I'd love to run a whole drum kit through these...

I do have an SM7b--so I'll hook it up and make some sounds. I'll post it when I've got something.

73's

Yeah I bought 4 of them, but now I seriously wished I had bought 4 more at least , just for the rest of the drums channels, the pres sound really nice and punchy, and the EQ feature is nice for the Kick and Snare channels.
I assigned 1 to vocals one to Bass and only 2 to the kit... Dang it!

A question for those who have recieved their gear:

If you ordered the 300 (which was dropped after we ordered) what did you receive in its place?

ACM-200. I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Honestly I only ordered the 300 because it looked cool so I'm not too bothered by the replacement.

Yep, the 200. I plugged mine in and talked into it to get a feel for it, and it's pretty nice. Does not require much gain at all like a standard ribbon. It is very well built and comes with a great shockmount.

Yep. I thought we were supposed to get the 200 instead. I got an ACM-3 instead. It's a great mic--esp for guitar cabs--but I bought one last time around, so I didn't really need it.

I know chance is swamped, so I'll wait for the dust to settle to ask him about it.

I have received reports from some who have the 300 (under another brand name) and they say the 200 wins hands down over the 300. Some time ago I posted a you tube video demo of the 200.. I use my 200 all the time.

Well then I hope I get the opportunity to swap my accidental ACM-3 for a 200. Maybe someone's out there with an accidental 200 that really wanted the 3. (I love the 3--but like I said, I already had a 3.)

Oh well, we'll see...

sweet! I ordered a 200 and a 300, and two 200's would probably be good to have.

If you watch the you tube of the 200, notice how far away she is from the mic in comparison to the in-your-face sound

I know this has been like 1 out of 5 posts for the last few days, but...

I'll need two ribbons for my 3's from last year. No rush, just don't want to miss the boat.

also...

I don't remember where or how I sign up for the TAB-Funkenwerk OTs for those same 3's... someone help me out?

I haven't seen much of anything posted about the ACM-900 (tube ribbon). Anyone out there have and tried one of these bad boys yet? I have one in my order (3 red no's for me - boooo) and I'm pretty curious about its final fit and finish, and of course, sound.
