A few points....
1 - Chance has some inkling of what Randy's dealing with and apparently it's enough that he doesn't want to bother him at this time. That's his call, no one else's.
2 - Randy has already saved Chance a ton of work and time, having set up the site to take our information and do the initial payments.
3 - None of this is affecting anyone in a negative way. The worst case scenario is that Chance has a few extra hours of work to do. Since the boat is still two weeks out and the gear will sit in customs for another week, delivery is unlikely to be delayed.
Everyone relaxed now? Come on... group hug!

i know, i know. eternal gratitude for all randy has done for us and prayin hard for him. i was just trying to save chance some work as he's definitely done a whole lot already. didn't mean to stir anything up.

BUT (nothing at all against Chance), Chance not knowing the difference between a row and a column does not instill much confidence. Meaning, there is much more room for error doing things manually. Especially if you are using software you're unfamiliar with (excel). I'd hate for everyone to get the wrong order due to a missing comma causing all names to shift over by 1.

The only reason I mentioned "Excel" was that Fed Ex needed an Excel file to manipulate and input data in my account. Rather than copy/paste to excel, I'm entering directly to my fed ex account. As for columns and rows, I have never worked with excel files. (I have a hard enough time with bwf LOL)

Something very wierd is going on around here. After last nights session, I thought I would at least start manually entering the 300+ names, shipping address, phone numbers, E-dresses etc. I STARTED keying in the name, and it magically appeared! Then I started keying in the ship address, and it too appeared. My initial thought was that I might have tried keying it in before, and the computer remembered it. I tried this with several other names some of which I KNOW I never keyed in and they all magically appeared after keying the first letter of each field. Are the shipping gods looking down on me? This is creepy!

Look in your FedEx address book and see if they're all listed. Perhaps they were put in earlier, or maybe Randy already did it for you.

I have no idea what to think of that but I do believe in karma. So maybe karma is playing a role in it. But All in all thats great news, just a little weird because normally that does not happen.

No. I deleted my address book for this GB to avoid duplicate entries and incorrect out-dated information.

There are many among us who could speed things up a lot with access to the GB registration database, but that would require either 1) direct remote access to the database (a security no-no over the internet, in most cases) or 2) either a) carefully crafted user-level access to the server machine itself (which would likely take time/energy to set up on Randy's part) or b) administrative access to the server machine, which, if I were Randy, I wouldn't give out. It looks like a windows box, too, which tends to make things a little more difficult (or easier, depending on your intentions/point-of-view).
[Once the gosh-darned Ike-removed power comes back on at my house] I could quickly write a perl script that would turn the data into a statue of the Virgin Mary, if that's what you wanted, but to get there I'd need to get through the challenges above, which are significant.
Again, we all very much appreciate all the work you're doing, and the work Randy has done -- as noted, he's already contributed way more than his share, even with the community-foisted donations, as have you, of course.

the mysql port does appear to be open, but Randy would still need to provide db connection credentials, which is spooky, and the local security may not allow for remote connections to the particular database, even with the port open.

Well said, with mysql access it would be very quick to get the data... But we have what we have.
I just thank chance and randy and everyone else for making this thing possible in the first place, truly a positive experience.

I have faith it will all work in the end.
I'm not in the slightest bit worried about it.
And even if a few get screwed up and my order was one of them I've waited this long so the possible slight bit of inconvenience of rectifying my order wouldn't cause me any grief.
To be honest this has been one of the most fun internet based activities I've had.
Poring over vague specs and pictures,reading the endless posts of speculation,excitement and pessimism,placing my order,changing my order,rechanging my order,missing an order at deadline,Randy called,added to my order etc etc.
It's been a fun ride so far.

I'm not sweatin' it either. If I had wanted fast shipping I would have bought my stuff some other way. Heck, part of the fun of the group buy has been the mystery factor... It's kind of like Christmas is coming, but I don't know when it is!

I'm thinking how much fun it is going to be very soon when folks start getting their gear, and it will be very soon now, talking about the pre's and how they look and sound. And the mic's, how great they are for the price paid. Those that choose to pass on this Great Buy will be everywhere, not only this board but others as well, wanting to buy extras, and we will just sit back and enjoy our bargins.
The chatter on this board will come alive with reviews and pictures of our new gear!! Thanks again to Chance for making this happen, and Randy for helping to make the process go smoothly.
