Wow

Being deployed....I had not heard of Randy going through tough times until now....

Prayers going up for you, brother, from the desert.

Jay

I just got notice they are ready to ship.
WOW! This is much bigger than I thought I could sure use some help in finding a shipper from China. For the mic pre's alone this is the info they gave me: 42.2 steres
carton 57 X 47 X 63cm 250 pcs
they said it will fill a 40' GP container $2300.00 using their shipper.

For some of the mics that are ready: 136 cartons
MEA 13.92 M3
weight 3011 KG
Using their shipper $700.00

If anyone has connections in logistics to get better rates
please let me know ASAP
I am extremely busy here in the studio and any help will be greatly appreciated

Over 6,600 pounds of just mics!
I bet the premps are going to weigh a ton (actually a lot more than a ton).

This is great news, we're in the final stages. I can not help with shipping rates, and even if no one else has any connections, that $2300 pre amp shipping rate does not look quite so expensive when divided by the 1000 pre amps ordered, or about $2.30 per pre to get them from China to USA. Anyway, getting excited here.

While the logistics are admittedly an issue, don't be afraid to go back to the well with the group if the trans-pacific shipping costs are too high. Fuel prices are much higher now than last year, definitely.

Maybe the best way to handle it logistically *if* you can spot the money, would be to add a trans-pacific surcharge to everyone's final shipping cost.

But hopefully we find a better price :D

Agreed. The additional cost looks to be nominal on an individual order basis - and increased fuel costs are definitely a factor. I'm happy to pay a shipping surcharge if one is necessary.

Agreed. Shipping charges are still unknown for the second leg of the journey so what does it matter if a few more bucks get tacked on? In other words, does it matter if my as yet unknown shipping costs are $5-10 more than the number I don't know? ...whoa, just got dizzy... A few bucks more isn't going to break anyone. As a matter of fact, I'd bet most of us would prefer to pay an extra $5 or so to prevent any further delays (damn Olympics).

LOL Someone on PSW posted a jpg of their PB already labeled for TnC.

Also agreed.

I can relate. I did some re-routing in the studio a couple months ago--and I've had my patch bays labeled for a pair of 73's ever since! :D

BUMP...........

FWIW, I've been involved with shipping a 40' container to South America and it was around $7000.00 so this price seems fine to me.

Also, if the Chinese company already has a relationship with a shipper this can be a big advantage. It will save you a lot of back and forth. I really think you should just go with the $2,300.00 and please ask us for more money if it's not covered already. We're ready to pay.

Yep...I did a single shipping container to the Ivory Coast (this side of Africa) and it was $5,000. If it makes it simpler for you Chance, go with what they've got and bill us the difference if it's more than you budgeted.

I had no idea so many of us had shipped containers -- I feel strangely naive and inexperienced. But I'm now solidly on the side of not delaying while we look for a better price, but rather paying extra to ship on what's there. I'm willing to do it now if need be, but it may be easier for everyone (especially Chance/Randy? that's what counts) to include it in the final shipping.

Maybe I should explain something. The pre-amps are coming from the parent company pro division. The condenser mics, from another division/location, and the ribbons, yet another. Everything is ready to ship EXCEPT for the ribbons. Rather than have 3 individual shipments, I would rather have one shipment of 2 containers. I have to hire 2 semi truck drivers to get them to my wearhouse. In the past, I rented U-haul.

Thanks Chance - that makes sense. So since we're waiting on the ribbons anyway (since it wouldn't make sense to ship things separately) then we may as well keep looking for a better deal in the meantime.

Wish I had a better deal :)
