Nah, everyone will get their money back and we'll start the payment process over... PayPal WON'T process the money, period... They've stated this over and over again... BUT they just won't refund it either!! Go figure!
I'll say this, and this is pure speculation, since there is no way that I nor anyone can prove it, but I'm also basing this on my years in this industry and what I've seen happen in the past:
We paid via PayPal. We used their system and their bandwidth by doing so. Now PayPal doesn't want to process the money. In this case, they'd have to refund ALL the money INCLUDING the processing fees... There is and still is some manual labor that must be performed by PayPal to refund the money... That being said, I'm sure that PayPal is holding on as long as they can, drawing interest on this money, in an effort to pad their pockets and pay them for us using their system and bandwidth, and to cover the labor of their employees having to manually issue refunds...since they know if they don't process the money they won't be getting anything...
I want to say something else just to give you an idea of what's going on inside these processor's heads:
The total dollar amount for this GB isn't exactly pocket change...almost $300K... Processors aren't eager to fund that kind of money to pay for something that hasn't even been manufactured yet...and when it does get manufactured will be in a different country, even more limiting their recourse should something happen... The processors are thinking: What if all of these people pay... and 3 months down the road, before the products ship, Chance runs off to Mexico...etc., then all of these people who have paid, charge all of this money back... WE (the processor) ARE LIABLE and will have to refund/eat this money, which, again, isn't chump change.
Yeah, we all know that the above senerio isn't gonna happen, but the processors don't know that, nor can you convince them of it with words...they want proof on paper with someone putting up large amount of collateral... which isn't gonna happen, and it's their money we're playing with... It's kind of like a poker game and when they see all of this, they just fold...
Right now I have a processor that has verbally agreed to do it and some paperwork has been passed back and forth and it's almost a done deal... Not tooting my own whistle, but the only reason that I've made it this far with any processor, is because I'm known in this industry...even with that, it's still hard to get someone to front you that kind of money on your word, with no collateral and the deck is stacked against them...
Right now the rates for CC processing that we've discussed so far, aren't as cheap as I was hoping for, but they are still cheaper than PayPal...
I'll give updates as all of this progresses throughout the day...
Thanks for everybody's patience through this, I'm sure that it's as stressfull on you as it is me.

Thanks again.
However, I have to mention - that the logic used above by the "processing" companies does not hold legal "water". This isn't a "loan" application...the only "hesitation" they should have is based on whether or not they take responsibility for "arbitration" or "conflict resolution" after the fact. If they are going to (like paypal) also provide conflict resolution should everything "fall through" (which we know it won't), then I understand the concern, fee levels, etc.
Here's my point - in my opinion we need to simply be looking for a payment "medium"...not "insurance", "Loan terms", etc. A single "ish" way to transmit money to Chance at the "social" level of this group buy. If we're trying to also put every business legal protection in place for every member of the the group buy, we're very quickly going to devolve into creating a complete corporation-like transaction system with Chance and you having to try to keep it all together.
There's a level of personal risk for participating in Group Buys....that's just a fact and something I took for granted when first reading about this one. All I want to do is be able to "pay" Chance for the ordered products...period...in whatever method he finds easiest to accept in order to use the funds to have the products manufactured. I don't need a medium for complaint arbitration, buyer protection, etc. etc. etc.
Just my .02 - and thanks again for all the incredibly hard work...I'm really hoping that it turns out to make it MUCH easier for the next time around!

OK, so back to the mics for a second here,
i've tried searching, but haven't been able to find too much info here,
is the 583 based off of a well known design? (can somebody throw me one of those letters followed by a bunch of asterisks?)
also, are there any accessories included with it (shock mount?)
thanks
I'm fine with this too. My money is already with Chance in the US.
But if it's easier for Chance to keep the funds
The "loan" happens between the processor and the merchant, in this case Chance. Since credit card companies give the customers "adequate" time, usually 180 days, to chargeback the amount processed, should they no be happy with their purchase, but the processor deposits the amount processed into the merchant's account with 1-2 business days, they are giving the merchant a loan, in faith that their transactions were legal, honest, that the customer is happy and there will be no chargebacks that they'll have to cover out of their pocket should the merchant go out of business, shut down his bank accounts, leave the country...anything to where by they would have a difficult time or impossibility of collecting these chargeback amounts.
If by their RISK model, there is a high probability of this happening, processing rates for the merchant rise...until after so many RISK flags are raised (they aren't making enough money based on the amount of funds they have outstanding) that they choose not to process the transaction.
Legal or not, this is how they do it and it's been going on for years with the blessings of the FDIC and the Federal Trade Commission.

This is what is making me upset. Not only have I NOT recieved any funds, but they won't return those funds back to you. ALSO I have personal funds in my P-pal account that I need for my tax payment to the IRS, and they are holding those funds captive too. Are they making interest on these funds? Are they paying US interest on these funds?
For those who need to use a CREDIT CARD to stay in the group buy...
Most CC Co. send out "Convenience" checks every so often (if not w/ every statement) for you to use how ever you please. If you don't have any, Call your CC company and ask for some or Ask what they have available for you. They will send them ASAP... Then use the Credit Card Check to pay for the ACH process if that becomes the only method of payment. (usually you can write the CC check to your self for cash too).
Just an idea to keep the CC payers in the game.

the 583 is not a rebadged clone of anything
unless i'm misunderstandingThanks guys...
I am working on this, and my goal is to provide the best solution... AND also optional methods for you to use... Ideally, I'd like to have a credit card solution (which I think I have secured) and an online check ACH process (which I think I have also secured) and I've been reading about another possibility: Revolution Money Exchange. "recordinghacks" on this board sent a link to me. I've been reading and researching it on the web and so far I've heard nothing but praise for it... I am going to give them a call today and discuss "our" group buy payments with them to see if we can use them without all of the hassles that PayPal has put us through...
In the meantime, please visit: http://www.revolutionmoneyexchange.com and also research it on the web and let me know what you think of this as an option as well..
Thanks in advance,
Randy
