Please edit out the prices from your post. I don't want this whole thing getting shut down as I REALLY REALLY want a pair of 73s :)

thanks.

I've done that although the prices on the pres are not the issue since no one else has them. In fact those figures are contained in Chance's earlier posts and I believe are still there.

Thanks, guys..

For the info...will jump in momentarily with an order of my own.

Jay

One more question - just wanting to make sure the 900 was the mic that Chance loved on guitar cabinets?

Jumped in...

For a pre and 2 mics...still would love to make sure it was the 900 tube ribbon that Chance liked on guitar cabs. The 6802T is certainly of interest to me. Anyone use/try the FET mic?

Jay

Actually the mic that is my "go-to" mic for guitar cabs is the ACM-2

Is there anyone from UK around who ordered last time?

Could you (or Chance?) give me an idea of postage costs and whether you got hit by import tax etc?

Cheers,
Gareth

A poster here "Barks" got some but I don't remember what the postage was.

Does anyone know about how long the wait will be after ordering? I missed out on the last group buy, and was just curious as to how long it may take for these to be made (rough estimate). Sorry if this is a redundant post, I just haven't seen any mention of it.

It'll take a long time. Plan on it taking a year, and you can be pleasantly surprised if it takes less than that. I don't recall the exact dates, but it seems to me that we started talking about mics for the last group buy around last January, actually placed our orders around April, and took delivery of the mics in October and November. Maybe this one will go quicker, maybe not.

Later edit: And just for clarification, let me make it perfectly clear that I think that time frame is quite reasonable. This is a volunteer effort on Chance's part, and he's doing a tremendous service for everyone who participates in this project. It all happens on HIS schedule, and no one should expect any particular degree of haste. I understand that Chance is trying to tune this process so that it goes faster and smoother (and hopefully with less effort on his part) with each successive batch, but the bottom line is that no one should expect it to happen quickly.

The two channel "stand alone" unit will not be ready in time. (everyone is getting anxious)
Understood. But the question is when will it be ready, and how will it be handled at that time? I'm not looking for an exact date, but a guess for planning purposes. I'm assuming that it will be ready in time for the 2009 group buy, but that may not be accurate. Any thoughts?

Right now, the standalone is on the back shelf.

As for a time frame based on the last GB it was around 60 days from the time they recieved the funds. From then I was surprised that when they shipped they were here in 14 days. The long time consuming process was me doing all the pack & ship to every one who ordered (WHERE IS LUCAS PROUD?) this time they should all ship the same week I pick them up from the dock.

Chance I've received all the email, registered, etc. but have yet to find out when payment is due. I don't care about when the items ship, etc. but would like to know so I can get funds together asap. Thanks!

BTW, it might be buried in this thread but I don't have time to read 113+ pages!

Once the timetable is established with a cutoff date, Chance will send out a Paypal request to everyone that ordered. When the payments are in, Chance will then pay the manufacturer who in turn will build the products. The ordering process will probally last a few more weeks, so start savings!!

Chance: Would you please comment on the 1200 tube? I, too, am in a quandary between that and the 6802T.

Thank ya.

I agree with you on the simplicity angle - that's why I'm really most interested in the two-channel pre when it gets here. I'll probably buy one of the 73s just to get a sense of its character, but I'd much rather see a simpler version with two (or even four!) channels in one box in the long run.

However, I notice that you refer to these as "tube" pres. I've gone back through the discussion and I can't find any reference to tubes in these units. As far as I know, they are solid state. Which would make sense, since the classic units that they strive to emulate were also solid state units....

Ehhh my bad, late night posting, you know how it is... But that's a great idea, a 4 channel two rack space tube pre with just those basic features. It's a shame they stopped making the RP220, imo.

You know what else I'd like to see in the next group buy? a C***N PZM clone. Probably not much want for that sort of thing but it always struck me as being way overpriced even at $69 for what it's made out of. be nice to get them down to $20 shipped...

Lucas Proud, if you don't want your mics, I can go pick them up from Chance for you.

There's got to be somebody who has an opinion on this difference, right? Someone who has the 6802 and the infamous machine gun mic and has seen the insides of both? Unless the 1200 is a totally different mic than the machine gun one (which isn't what Chance hinted at) I'm leaning toward getting another 6802, because I like it, and I would like to have a stereo pair.

Anyone else having problems accessing the ordering site today? Seems to be down.

That list would be very short. The 1200 is new for this GB, so not many people if any have heard it in person to be able to pass any judgment.
