I hate to laugh at this, Chance, but it IS awful funny. Be even funnier if someone was on it when you buried them in peanuts...

I think they've all been sent. Some of the orders may have been lost in transit from China.

Just kidding - I just got mine today. :D

Not wanting to hijack or sidetrack this thread but is there anyone here in Sydney that could help me? I need to get the ribbon tightened on a mic and am not willing to do it myself. Maybe you could recommend someone locally or even do it for me if you're that way inclined :p

Thanks

I really need to stop checking this thread until I get the Paypal request... I don't even have my mic from this one and I'm itchy about the next group buy!

guy i work with ran an extensive test of every single mic on a taylor acoustic guitar. very interesting results. all the condenser mics are very hyped in the high end. the 583 really sang on the thing the most. 560, 240, 660, 670 & 580 L all lacked a lot of the body and depth you'd want in an acoustic. the 310 has a some thickness to it in the mids in a very musical way. the 6802T sounded very warm and would be well suited for a less dense mix where the guitar is featured as the main instrument. 583 definitely was the truest for this particular application. david horowitz, one of the veterans of the music for advertising business, walked by the room and was floored that he was listening to a recording, not us actually playing in the room. his jaw really hit the floor when we told him how much the mics cost.

awesome-- nice review jim thanks. does that mean your coworkers at the studio have taken the hit off you and are now asking you about the next group buy? :D

yeah and i told 'em all they can email chance themselves when the time comes. (although all the work did result in us getting our order pretty close to first)

ACM-3 Question

Has anyone taken apart their ACM-3 (the Royer look-a-like)?

I'm wondering if the motor uses a ribbon offset toward the front of the mic (like Royer) or towards the back of the mic (like the Nady RSM-3).

I'm wondering th same thing, or if they offset it at all.

SO THATS WHERE ALL THESE E-MAILS ARE COMING FROM ! LOL

WOW I am almost afraid to do another GB. I have learned so much but I can't seem to find a way to do the shipping in a more efficient way. The shipping process is SO time consuming and SLOW. I can only do one order at a time. I am averaging (between session work) 15 to 20 orders a week. The small orders are quick but the large ones with different combinations of mics take a lot of time. As I mentioned before, I can have a large box all packed except for a small shock mount because it won't fit, then I have to start all over again. I am, however starting to "sense" what will fit and what wont just by doing. I'm also starting to recycle the boxes that came from China and that helps because they are just the right size. I have to get this done soon, because I record commercials for radio/TV and the holidays are quickly approaching

*Almost* afraid? You mystify and amaze me still -- maybe next time we can schedule a packing party with all who are able to attend showing up for a day or two and boxing/labeling up the whole lot (he says, comfortably, from Texas [but I'm always looking for excuses to see my L.A. buddies])?

Chance--

I'd love a chance to head to sunny California to help with the next one. Seriously--I'd be glad to help. The least we could do is say thanks by adding our grunt labor to your willingness (not to mention the expertise you've acquired!).

How much does putting them in a single box save over just doing a multi-box shipment in the factory packaging and bundling only the small stuff like shock mounts? :D

Doing that would mean an extra - pack, weigh, measure, get rate, and label before requesting "shipping funds"
