Chance -

I was just looking at a calendar and realized I'm about to be in the same predicament as last go 'round.

We'll be heading out on a family vacation early November. Needless to say, I'd hate to miss the shipping invoice, and I'd definitely hate to have a box or two sitting on my doorstep for a week while no-one is home. (No volunteers to babysit please.. I know you guys. :D) So, if you could kinda keep in the back of your mind if you don't get to mine next week... please set it aside for a couple weeks until I am able to get on a computer, or receive the box. About mid November is when I return.

Thanks... and my apologies for adding one more little thing to watch out for.

Just don't pay the invoice until you return. When your invoice is ready, you will see it when you log in. Nothing will ship until the invoice is paid.

That works for me. I thought I saw where there was a time limit the invoice would be available so I wanted to be proactive. I probably miss-read something.

Thanks

The short and skinny is: Chance didn't want a new thread. It really is that easy.

i guess that makes sense. if i would have known there was more stuff going on, i possibly could have participated in this GB haha. but i pretty much have no idea what is happening at the mo.

Many orders have been shipped, but the console has not been updated yet. You will be getting E-mails from Fed Ex or USPS if your order has been shipped.
Yep, just got a Fedex email that my order shipped. Nice thing is that it actually shipped on Monday and is on the truck for delivery today!

Me too! I was getting antsy about labels expiring and my mics going into storage, but it turns out they are "OUT FOR DELIVERY!"

YAY CHANCE!

mine shipped too!

woo hoo!

happy dance, happy dance...doot doot doot doot happy dance....
:D

Mics Received!!!

Just finished visually inspecting the mics. They look great. Overall, the build quality looks really good. As suspected, the rolloff and pad switches on the 1200's are the one exception. The plastic caps seem to cover cheap plastic switches as well. Honestly, though, who knows if those will even still be there after I'm done modding.

So far (visually) the sleeper hit is the ACM-3. It not only looks like a Royer, but it feels as solid as one. It looked in the picture like it was going to be cheap aluminum bent in the shape of a Royer. I figured the worst case scenario, I would use the body for a DIY project. Turns out, this thing is weighty and has a very well built feel. The clip it came with might not be trustworthy, but I was gonna get some shockmounts anyway.

Anywho, let the unboxing photos commence!!!!

It looks like they were packed well. If you have the time, send an E-mail to dkpackaging@yahoo.com and thank them (if you are satisfied) They are handicapped and the labor is almost 0$. They get paid by the state and would appreciate the support.

Is that the international symbol for "this is not garbage" on the back of the tube power supply? :D

LOL I was wondering about that when I saw it too....

All my ribbons sounded good, and none exhibited "sag" issues that I could tell. I can't tell you how comforting that was when plugging all those mics in. My impressions of the ACM3 were somewhat different. Although they sound great, I thought the build was a little less than what I expected. Coming from the same company that manufactures the C****** mics which are beautiful and heavy and finished spectacularly, the 3 was less than that for me. I think the Chinese have switched from Brass bodies to soome kind of cheaper alloy in the last year or so. I bought some MXL 603's for a friend, and they were the same type of metal. Much less "weighty" and substantial than earlier versions.

Bottom line is the sound though and for $50 what can you really expect in the fit and finish department? Overall, I'm thrilled and can't wait to actually put them thru their paces in some real sessions. The sleeper for me was the ACM4. Sounded better than I expected. Really looking forward to putting that out front of a kick drum!

Hey that ACM70 looks SWEET! I knew I should have got one of those....:p

And another 6802T.......

And.........

Oh, nevermind.

I'm thankful and happy for my ChiNeves and mics!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

A big SHOUT OUT to Chance and Terry for all their hard work in providing cool tools for the masses...........

I want to make this my signature:

PS - just talked with a buddy who I picked up a ACMP73 for. He's a guitar player / bass player. He loves the DI, and loves the EQ on AC Gtr. He's totally digging it.

Good idea. And kudos for supporting what sounds like a very cool program.

Well I guess it's all about expectations. I expected worse... You expected better... I just plugged them all in and checked them. They are all working perfectly. My initial impressions based SOLELY on me saying "Test 1 2 3..." are as follows:

The ACM-3: Dark, wooly thick and soupy. I can't wait to put this in front of a guitar amp.

The ACM-70: If the ACM-3 was my visual sleeper, than the ACM-70 seems like it's gonna be my sonic sleeper. Much bigger sound than I expected. Very neutral with tons of depth but also very round on the bottom (especially with the proximity effect it gave my voice). It's a much more defined bottom than the ACM-3. This feels like it's gonna be a very useful mic.

The ACM-1200: I'm going to reserve judgement on this one until the tubes burn in. Maybe I'll edit this post tomorrow. Initially it sounds a bit thin, but after the ACM-70 I think anything would sound thin. Also A WORD OF CAUTION!!! DON'T SWITCH THE -10 DB PAD SWITCH WITH YOUR MONITORS TURNED UP!!!! IT THUMPS SOMETHING AWFUL!!!
