What's the tariff info?

...that's right...if you bring in any kind of quantity over a few pieces you'll need to have the stuff cleared through customs...fees for clearance and tariffs/duties most likely will apply...you need to investigate those issues because they can greatly affect your landed pricing...just a heads up...

Hey Chance, you can DEFINATLEY count me in on this. Just let me (and everyone else) know when "it's goin down". When do you plan on doing all this anyway.

Thanks for the hookup man
;)

I am still waiting on the prices on the new mics. Because of the holidays, I probably won't have the overhead to dial this all in. I already have a meeting set up with them at the Namm show. What I might do is purchase one of each of their mics and try them. I wouldn't want my reputation ruined on the forum circuit. I frequent Front End, pro sound, 3D, and have been on the Mackie forum for a long time. NAMM is the 19th till the 21rst of January. I should get prices on the new ribbons soon. I'll keep everyone posted.

If you can make this happen, I'd like to order the HRM 14.
Thanks for the offer.

at about 50$ (plus shipping) a pop if i don't really like the mic i'll cry all the way to the garbage.

no biggey

If Chess and Kenny are in, so am I. They look pretty cool.

Exactly. That is why I would like to get a group buy somehow happining. That would greatly reduce the shipping costs.

You can count me in also. I'd be interested in the HRM-5. That sounds like about a dozen people so far. How many constitutes a group buy? What quantity of mics? Is it a mix and match quantity deal? Keep us posted. Thanks for the info!

Yes it is a mix & match. I am even going to get the Tube mic as well as one of every mic. If there are any cautious people tuned in, let me be the test subject. What I do like is that they will make the Nady/Apex ribbon with an XLR jack instead of the attached cable.

Hey guys...I'd definitely be interested in this. I don't yet own a ribbon mic and would be open to suggestion from you guys as to which one. I'm one of those budget home studio "pros" ....NOT. Actually just starting out and am waiting on my first condenser to arrive.

BTW, mic will be used for vocal/acoustic guit.

...I'll go back to lurkin' and learnin' now.

I reciently was put in contact with the manufacturer of the Nady, Apex, and many other mics. The Nady ribbon is about $50.00. Here is the web-site where you can view
http://www.alibaba.com/catalogue/63708c1ph/Microphone.html?memberid=georgeyuh

The price for the HST-11A $80.00 and $68.50 shipping has plastic case
The price for the HRM-2 is $58.50 and $54.50 shipping has aluminum case
The price for the HRM-10 is $58.50 and $46.40 shipping has cool wooden case
The price for the HRM-8/8B $40.50 and $47.80 shipping has aluminum case
The price for the HRM-5S $49.50 and $44.60 shipping has cool wooden case

He reciently E-mailed me pics of 3 new bottle-neck type ribbons which are not on their web-site yet. The shipping would be greatly reduced as the order quantity is increased

I assume you are in contact with Henry who is very easy to deal with and 100% trust worthy. I bought three ribbon mics (HRM-9) from him and they were all very good. I couldn't tell the difference on all three recording acoustic guitar and electric guitar cabs. The HRM-9 is a copy of the Royer 121 and they all came with a shockmount and wooden storage box as well as the velvet cover. Any of you who take up Chance's offer will be pleasantly surprised. Chance you can count me in for a HRM-14W when you do this.

Count me in

I'll take a few.Depends on final price. Keep us posted..

Yes I know Henry Peng very well. I have a meeting set up with him at the NAMM (Not Available Maybe in May ) show next month. There is a possibility I can make a transaction there. This was his suggestion. He will let me know more details later. My E-box is full of interested people, and if everyone who seems to have an interest, follows thru, I don't think they can bring that many with them, but he will let me know. Also he sent me another picture in which I sent to whoever posted the last ones for me. It's a mic similar to the Nady but is longer. It has a two inch long ribbon which is reminisent of the vintage RCA's ( they had 2" long ribbons ) and has an XLR I will get this instead of the HRM-2

Are any of these mics available now? I looked up the manufacturer and checked out their website...I didn't see any mention of these products.

No there are no distributers here yet. I have imported many mics from 797 audio in the past and have some knowledge on how it's done.
http://www.797audio.com
I bought 10 of their CR-998 mics and 10 of their CR-100 mics (go to their site and you can find pictures under "downloads") but the 998 is no longer available. What blew me away was the duty on these 20 mics, it was less than $100.00! At customs, they kept asking me "what is the frequency response" then they would repeatedly write something down in some book. Go figure. But to answer your question again, there are no distributers here.

Another Pic

Here is that other pic Chance was just talking about...
