Chance.(or anyone with experience with Neveish Clones)

Since your mixer is fitted with these modules...
How do you like Drums through the Neve type pres?(Like in your Board?)
I was thinking of getting 4 API pres to dedicate to my drum booth, but would surely like to save the dough if the ACMP73s do a really good job on drums.

I record mainly Jazz / Country Rock type drums so I need open, beefy sounding pres with headroom.
I currently use 4 channels of RNP, and they are pretty good, just looking to upgrade if possible.

I have 4 ACMP73s on order, if you can respond before the deadline to pay I will know how to adjust my order.

Thanks
Tom

i've had a little experience with the chameleon 1073ish pre, and if the acmps are even half as great as they seem here, i think you'll be very happy you got them.

i had a chameleon labs 7602 and have an avedis ma5 now. if they live up to their billing, i think you'll be very happy with them on drums, but may have trouble keeping them dedicated to just your drum booth as this "family" of pres sounds great on bass, guitar and vocals too.

Thanks Guys!
That is the input I was looking for.
That's why I was asking.
I want 4 to dedicate to drums and maybe a few more to use for other stuff.
I guess I may get 6 of them.

i have neve clones from seventh circle audio and think they sound great on kick and snare, though you can't really go wrong with the api stuff either...

Thanks

Chance, Randy, thanks for all the work you guys have been putting in, and especially thanks for keeping us informed along the way. It's really appreciated...hope you have a restful, peaceful Sunday.

From Chance's mass email:
"Well we're past a dramatic hurdle with Pay Pal. A new system is being set up and should be ready very soon. I have been FLOODED (I said FLOODED!) with Emails from people that missed the registration deadline. I don't know how to remedy this. Perhaps when the payment system is in place, they can just pay like a shopping cart. The manufacturer has contacted me stating that
they are all tooled up and waiting on us. I am still working on the best, and most efficient/cost effective way of shipping and as soon as I have more, we'll let you know. A big thanks to everyone for their support and help in the past few weeks. I am going to forward this to Randy before I post, as he might have something to add to this mass-mail."

I have two thoughts on the "flood" of people wanting to register. My first thought is that you might be opening the door for the asswipe who messed up the paypal transactions to reregister under a different name and screw with the process again. My second thought is that a process that takes a long time under optimum circumstances has already suffered a delay because of the aforementioned asswipe and do we really want to open it up again if it's going to further delay the order getting placed?

So as far as the new wannabe-registrants go, maybe a two-day window overlapping the front end of the payments window? And if they don't get their sorry asses signed up by then, they can wait until the next time or look for people selling gear on the boards.

Why the hell did they wait so long anyway? It's not like this was a well-kept secret. Can you tell I'm still a little pissed about that asswipe?

Hi Jim,

I know exactly where you're coming from... AND I closed registrations several days back... I'm "gun shy" too...

Randy

With all that has taken place... Registration needed a closing date, it came and went.

Flooded? what have all these people been doing? (Hopefully Recording :D ) IMO... if someone who was in the last group buy happened to be gone for the last few months, touring, working, imprisoned (we are talking about a musicians ;) ) and records show they were in the last GB... I'd let em in w/ a valid excuse. Otherwise they should wait for the next GB.

It also depends on what Chance gets out of all this... if he is making a few bucks from the gear sold (& he should be) then he may want the numbers to be as high as possible. Or as many Beta testers as possible before this gear goes out for Retail. The 200 mark for the Pres has been more than satisfied. I fail to see a reason to open back up Registration.

NON-Registered people could use the Buddy system... find someone who is registered and have them order for you.

My thoughts exactly.

Was there any follow up on Marik's observations about the acm310 a while back?
He questioned if the tube stage was implimented properly and cited excessive hum under fluorescent lights as an example.
Was this modified for the next production run?

For people that purchased pairs in the last buy, with all of the mics in general, how was the consistency?
In other words, Did those who purchased a pair, improve their chances of having a reasonably close pair, vs people who ordered one, and want a second one this time around?

If stragglers who haven't registered want to get in, then they should find someone registered to buy stuff for them.

On with the show!!!!!

If memory serves me correctly, registration for the GB had already closed before the whole PayPal fiasco, and several registrants (myself included) had already paid. Why open registration again when everyone had ample warning (at least a month) that registration was closing on April 13?

The only legit reason for another short registration period is if Chance's re-imbursement would go up as a result (and Randy too, I hope). Otherwise, it's just another delay that no one wants right now. So Chance, you and Randy do as you see fit under the circumstances. If you can make a few more denero in a short period of time, go for it. I'll gladly wait. Otherwise, let's order some gear!!!

For what it's worth, I tend to agree with the sentiments in posts #3907, 3908, 3909, 3910, 3912 and 3913.

Let's move on, I'd say, unless there was some really extraordinary reason to hold it up again. This from someone (me) who's still waiting for my funds from PayPal to get posted back to my bank account...

Thanks.

Hmm..... 3900 posts in this thread, and nothing for an entire day?

What gives? Are any payment updates coming soon?

Here's the response I received yesterday after firing off a "to-the-point" email to the people setting up the new processing account:

Randy,

I apologize on the delay. Because of the unique type of this business the underwriting department has been very particular about pending docs and information that we provide them. I ensure you that we have been trying our best to get this acct through as quickly as poosible.

My supervisor mentioned that he is going to speak with underwriting first thing tomorrow morning to get this all resolved and finalize and get this acct approved. Once the acct is approved we will be able to get you the gateway information the same day. I spoke with Chance just a few minutes ago and gave him this update as well.

Again I apologize on the delay. We are doing the best we can.

Thanks,

Jennifer

Chance you set fair policy giving everyone plenty of time to register. I think it's safe to say that those of us who can follow direction :p are keen on moving forward.

this paypal business doesn't really add up to me, but whatev. as long as we have an alternative...

hey randy, up here by me, a million dollars might get you a house that would cost a quarter that down there... so it could be worse, you know? i can't drive 15 minutes around here without getting cut off by some housewife in a porsche SUV who's never worked a day in her life and since her hubby works on wall street and pulls in seven figures, the rules don't really apply to her and she can drive like a fucking moron and treat everyone around her like shit...

no really, i love westchester county, ny....
