The board provider hosting the group buy forum is upgrading its server so I guess we'll have to wait after the upgrade to get this thing going...
The last formalities with the chineses manufacturer have been clarified so as soon as we reach the 91 microphones on the list, if we ever do, you can start sending the money to my Paypal account. I'll let you know if or when that happens.

I'm happy to announce the group buy will take place as we got enough subscriptions on the list to reach the minimum amount to order direct from the chinese manufacturer.
I will start to gather the payments by Paypal ONLY, in US dollars ONLY. Starting from today, I will wait three weeks for the payments. I will then place the order. 1. THE MICROPHONE

- the shockmount
- a wooden case for the microphone
- a splitter box and cable that runs from mic to splitter box. You'll need two XLR cables to get the stero signal out of the splitter box.
- shipping charges to your home
- a limited warranty for defects
2. PRICE
198$ per microphone, all expenses included.
368$ for two microphones or more, all expenses included.
The slight raise in price is due to Paypal fees who are in fact more expensive than what I thought; I must have misunderstood how it worked.
For non EU, USA or Canada residents, please contact me before sending any money as there will be extra shipping charges for you(around 18/20 US$)
3.THE WARRANTY
It's quite simple : I will order 1 extra microphone per 10 units and a few extra ribbon motors for repair. So if you receive a broken unit you can send it back to me, if I can't repair it I'll send a replacement mic free of charge. The return shipping charges would be on your part though.
The warranty is limited 1. In number. But I think more than 10% defect units are VERY unlikely 2. In time : once I have sent every mic, I'll wait a few weeks so can check for defects.
4.WAIT TIME
From today there will be three weeks for payment, 40 days of boat shipping, a week for taking care of customs (it shouldn't be that long, but you never know with customs) and maybe two or three weeks to send all the mics, a week to get the microphone to your home. That's a bit more than 3 months which takes us to mid-June. I know it's a long time to wait but airmailing the microphones from Shangai would have been WAY too expensive.
5.SOME MORE INFO
For non EU residents and customs charges, I'll send the packages as gift, which IMO is fair as you will already have paid for taxes. Basically the transaction is like : you give some money to one of your friends so he can buy something in his country and he sends it back to you...

You have 30 days to accept payments or reject them with Paypal.
So if we have enough payments to place the order I will accept them all at once, if not I will reject them and you will get your money back. This way we won't pay any Paypal fee until we're sure to place the order.

It is the last week of payment for the STEREO RIBBON MIC.
We need at least 91 microphones paid to place the order at the chinese manufactury. So please, don't forget to send your payment via Paypal in US$ to : theonlymagicalpig@yahoo.com before the May 7th. I could stretch to a another week which would set May 14th as the ultimate day of payment but, come on, 100 microphones subscribed and 28 paid... I'm beginning to wonder wether people are really interested or not in the deal.
Unfortunately I won't be able to accept any payments after this date because Paypal cancels any un-accepted payment within a month and the first payment have been sent to me on April 15th.
Let's keep hoping we'll pull this thing through.

Well, lots of people have been asking for an extension of time for payment. I've contacted the first few people who's payment were made a month ago asking them if they'd re-send their payment to buy the group buy some time (a Paypal transaction is only valid for a month).
Although not all of them have replied to me yet, I'm gonna extend the group buy for a week, until the 20th May included, hoping that those first payers will agree to resend their payment.
I've been convinced by several of you that a better option would be to accept every payment that have been sent and wait until we find enough people interested in order to spare this whole resending process to further people.
But before I do that, I want to get approval from those who sent me their money to collect it while there are still not enough paid mics to order AND I'll do it ONLY if on the 20th we have 10 or less mics missing to order from the manufacturer that is if we reach more than 81 paid microphones MINIMUM next Sunday.
59 mics have been paid so far...

I've got great news for you. 63 microphones have been paid so far but I "theonlymagicalpig", Michael Minemma "Clazmus" from the Netherlands and Maël Nesti "Maël" from France have decided to buy the 28 microphones missing we need to order from the Chinese manufacturer.
The idea around it is that we'll be sort of pre-financing the microphones. We hope to sell them back to late group buy catchers before they actually arrive home. It's just an investment/risk and community effort we're putting into the group buy.
The condition to doing that we agreed on is that we'll increase the price a little to cover our effort, the risk and the money we will put into the project. YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO GET YOURSELF A STEREO RIBBON MICROPHONE FOR 198$ OR TWO OR MORE FOR 184$ EACH UNTIL SUNDAY MAY 20TH 10:00 P.M GMT GREENWICH TIME...
After this term, microphones will be 235$ each and until we actually receive them (more or less two months from now). If we can't sell the mics before we receive them we'll re-sell them 300$ each. We thought about those margins as reasonable gain considering the investment. I want to emphasize that the spirit behind this is to allow the group buy to become a reality not to make a profit out of it and the best solution would be that people wake up and we get those 28 payments by tomorrow.
SO PEOPLE GET YOURSELF A NICE STEREO RIBBON MICROPHONE!! There are lots of you on the wish list who have not paid or forgot to re-send their payment. It's now or never!

Has anyone heard any updates about this group buy? All the forums on that board are locked, so it's hard to ask over there. I figure with the Chance group buy ending at about the same time, this one should probably be wrapping up manufacturing by now as well.
