Hi Triall, I recently started putting a recording set up together. I was advised to stay clear of Behringer monitors if I could afford better. Since my setup is in a smallish space I got Rokit KRK 6s. The best approach is to listen to the monitors before you decide, take a recording of some music you are familiar with to play through the different brands. I bought two SM 57s mics from Sweetwater in America , and even with shipping saved over $70. Late 2009 my first interface, a Focusrite Saffire LE I had shipped from the States saved me $350. My Novation Mk II 61 midi controller I was able to get at $50 over the US Price including shipping. The local music store where I shop did that for me, saving me $600 off the retail asking price. Always, Always, ask for discounts. My total rig now is Apple 21.5" imac 8gig ram , Dell 24" screen, Focusrite Saffire Le 6 in 8 out, M-audio profire 610 interfaces (failed to do proper research) hence two interfaces, Samson CO3 condenser mic, Sm57, a couple no name dynamic mics, Suzuki pro master harmonica x6, Kemble Mynx piano, 5piece drum set, bass and lead guitar, various amps, DIY bass traps and absorbers, MkII 61 controller, Yamaha Mg 8 cx mixer, Pro Tools M powered, "Logic studio, Reason 5, Reaktor 5, Max MSP student version." I started this recording adventure about a year and a half ago and having a lot of fun. I'm in Perth.

I like my KRK monitors - they are popular with a lot of members here. But you should go listen to some if you can.

Went into Allans Music today and the guy suggested as an interface the Mackie Onyx Blackbird - Mackie - Home Some really good reviews from what i have found so far...As for monitors they have some M-Audio DSM1's he mentioned the KRK's and also some Yammaha's..cant remember the exact models?

I was in Allen's Melbourne a few weeks ago, the Yamaha's are possibly the HS50M or HS80M I think both are on a sale price, or should be (end of financial year sales). Can't remember the model KRK that they had. I would have a good listen to the Yamaha's, but I am biased as I have had NS10's for ever.

Mackie gear has a good name.

to be honest i am lost in what i should be looking at, at the moment....lol so many things... And thinking a lot about the space i have atm Monitors are going to be to big for the moment. so lets put them aside...but i wills till see them and listen to them...and even buy them if they are at a good price.

Interface:
Apparently, according to the guy at allans, there are new revisions of the Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 comming to australia in the next six weeks, the older ones had an issue with buzzing caused by the power supply??

I am seriously Considering the Mackie Blackbird or The Saffire Pro 40....Though the Mackie is winning at the moment.

Microphone:
I have the opportunity to go in early in the morning one day to test out a few microphones. Allans Stock a lot of the SE Range as well as Shure and Rhode mics... including the NT2-A

I have decide to practice with my macbook pro and update to a dedicated system once i have a bette runderstanding about mixing and mastering
