"Greening" a CD...fact or fiction??

CD Stoplight was developed by researchers at Clear Image Audio looking for ways to passively reduce the bane of compact disc playback - jitter.

LOL... JITTER ? NO SUCH THING!

They postulated that if jitter could be reduced without any electronic intervention, it would sound better and could be produced at low cost to the consumer. What they discovered was a significant amount of stray laser light bounced around the inside of the CD itself. This stray light eventually finds its way back to the pick-up assembly, creating jitter.

LOL... JITTER ? NO SUCH THING!

Their solution was quite elegant - absorb the stray light. The product of their research was a recipe for a specially formulated acrylic coating that contained a mixture of inorganics and pigments that act as a very efficient absorber of stray laser light.

AudioPrism licensed the formulation, packaged it with a special applicator under the name CD Stoplight and the rest is audio history.

Most who have heard it agree it makes compact discs sound more neutral, less edgy and significantly more open. Treated discs take on a more "analog" presentation and tend to be considerably more musical.

I can't hear anything...

YOU SEE?

CD Stoplight is easy to use. Simply coat the outside edge of your compact disc with the purpose- designed tip, let it cure and you are ready to listen. CD Stoplight is nontoxic and has been chemically formulated not to harm compact discs. If properly applied, CD Stoplight will not flake, will not peel and will reduce jitter in your compact disc playback system.

LOL... YOU CAN'T REDUCE JITTER!

I think that above post just effectively ends the thread. Move along, nothing to see...

Reminds me of a sig I saw: Never teach a pig to sing, it wastes your time and annoys the pig.

...ends the thread??

Which frog is green?

The mic is a SM58 placed 12" from the frogs, recorded dry, no EQ. I noticed that my MP3 encoder killed some of the high end, but c'est la vie.

Green is good!

When I was in the Army, we wore green socks, and I would swear that I could walk faster then!

I have a little green on my shoes I am wearing and they are much more comfortable then my white shoes for sure!!

My old green car was the fastest car I ever owned!!!

I seen a guy playing a green Gretch drum set one time, and man, I would swear that it was the best sounding kit I ever heard!!!!

Remember those old green Marshall amps? They had the best sound!!!!!

I think there is something to this green thing. ;)

Good Day!

Ever stop to think that green spelled backwards is... neerg.

If that doesn't end this thread, nothing will.

OHHHH No dachay2tnr, I don't think anyone has mentioned "blueing" CD's. which by the way makes them sound just like an old eight track. Really guys I'm serious you have to try it. the sound quality is UNBELIEVABLE.

Dont be ridiculous, while everyone knows that Greening CDs improves their sound, but Blueing them is ludicrous.
