I was just diddling with Windows Media player and stumbled across the EQ, and the frequency/EQ "visualization" as they call it. It looked like a frequency analyzer ! Is that right? I am thrilled for the moment to be able to use this just for a rough idea- I messed with the 10-band EQ faders on the player and made some drastic cuts here& there to see if the "visualization" showed any reaction or change, and it did ! This is perfect because I am really getting in to EQ tweaking for individual instruments.

(I have to go check this at home but i wonder if WinAmp has one too..)

So could I use this as a poor-man's freqency analyzer?

I haven't used WinAmp in a while, but as I recall, it has a spectrum analyzer and ten band (I think) EQ.

i use winamp way more than wmp, winamp can use vst/dxi plugins and has tons of effects mostly free from the .com, it comes with all the eye candy one could ever want if you think wmp has it, ageesh, more visuals that effects 10x...

winamp 3's is a bloated pig imho, but i haven't fooled with it in a long time but the 2.9x verison works great imho, go to www.streamripper.com and get the ripper 2.54 i think and try www.shoutcast.com radio streaming, click on "bitrate" to see the highest bitrate streams, open the stream, click start on the ripper and you have 192kbps or better mp3's you'll like it, believe me, it works very well....

the RIAA did slam internet radio though, a year ago there was well over 100 192bit streams and many 256 - 300bit, damn assholes, excuse...
