I thought this was a great article/overview of upcomming technologies and improvements in the computer world. I thought I would post the link here and see if anyone had some interesting or creative ideas on how these technologies will affect us home recordists.

I think it might be interesting to see how IM could be used in a collaborative way with musicians who are not even in your studio. You could transfer tracks easily to other musicians to work on or add elements. Maybe not a very controlled environment for production but great for composing.
Ultimately, and this idea goes beyond the scope of this article above, I imagine you could setup a virtual studio network where a musician/engineer sets up a mic on their end in Australia and you record their signal in the States. That would take some serious transfer speeds, but it would be totally fascinating.
