About ready to make the big preamp purchase. I need a 2 channel, clean sound, pre. I've narrowed it down to these 2. Any input pro or con from owners of either (or both) would be appreciated.
I record classical and jazz. For mics, I have a Neumann TLM103 and a Royer R122. Recording vocals as well as trumpet, trombone and flute (keys are all line-in).
Thanks.

If you visit the Neumann website, you'll see (somewhere in the FAQs) that THEY recommend the Grace Design preamp to go with the TLM103.

If I were you, I'd skip the super pricey mic amp, get an RNP, and get a mic that's better than the TLM 103, like maybe a Soundelux U99 or a Blue Kiwi. Dropping two grand on a mic will always get you better results than dropping two grand on a mic preamp.

No problem. (Please note that this is not a gratuitous attempt to get my post count up above 2000 so that I can have a customized message below my name, like Chessrock.)

I repeat: my posting in this thread is not a shallow attempt to get my post count up. (I promise this is the last time I will do this.:D )

Thanks for the replies... and the replies :)
I feel I need something with a fuller sound than the Omni IO pres I'm using now. I'll look at (and listen to) the RNP.
The Royer is excellent for the trumpet and trombone! It was a lot of $$ but turned out to be one of the best purchases I ever made.
