Grabbing Audio tracks from DVD ?
Is it possible to pull the audio tracks from a DVD like you can with a CD ?

I don't have a DVD drive yet, but wondering whether it was possible or to do it the hard way and record DVD audio tracks via analog line-in (oh joy)

Is this Possible ?

Can CDEX do this ?

Any suggestions ?

There are DVD-audio ripping programs available, but I believe they are shareware (ie not freeware). I used Audacity to record a DVD concert playing in realtime on my laptop. I had to make sure nothing was running on the laptop so I wouldn't get any stuttering or random Windows beeps/etc... (I wasn't completly successful though). I got pretty good results and can now listen to David Gilmour's DVD concert on my mp3 player :-)

Of course, you would need a DVD drive on your PC and software to play the DVD.

You can jus sample from your DVD player i know u have one hooked up to your TV. Take the coaxial out to the IN on your sound card and record. I done it once and it worked fine for me.

try handbreak, its free.

if nothing else you can covert (rip) into quicktime format and then load into a video editing prog like final cut to suck out the audio.

Handbreak may allow you to take the audio strait from the DVD

Despite the hacker sounding name, it's a great source for info about things like ripping audio off of dvds. There's links to all the good free stuff.
