Hi,

I have to learn Nuendo for work, Is Cubase exactly (audio speaking) the same? I don't want to buy nuendo as it is very expensive and I will only use the audio portion of it.

2. Will I be able to open nuendo files (saying it is only audio files) in Cubase?

Thanks,

Yes and yes. Cubase and Nuendo are pretty much the same as far as the audio side goes, and you can open nuendo files in Cubase and vice versa.

thank you, you just saved me 1300$. Do you accept checks? ;)

No problem. Happy to help :)

I do accept checks, but I also have a card reader built into my butt crack if it's more convenient :p :D

Anyways, is that how much Nuendo costs these days? Or is that minus the cost of Cubase?

It's weird: I've used Nuendo a few times, and I use Cubase at home all the time, and I can see no difference between the two programmes.

I also know a major video games composer who also struggles to see any difference.

Of course, there is. I think there's a few extra whistles and bells for the audio-post posse, but mainly I'd stick with Cubase.

I've got a lot of freelance audio work that's come in, and I'll be using Cubase for all of that.

I think the difference is the integration with video. Audio-wise, it's no different.

Thanks guys,

Nuendo 4 is now 1700$, comes Without the Audio portion of it. You must add 300$ to get the full package.

what N4 does not come with is the midi production type stuff... since it's specificly for audio post... and it has other stuff that C4 doesnt have... like 192k audio... what is supposed to be a pretty amazing automation package... and file import/export way beyond C4... the add-on that they are calling NEK for nuend expansion kit adds back the bit's from C4 for the guy's that want it... it seems it's just their way of dealing with the hits they've historicly had to deal with guy's bitchin about the cost and feature sets they dont need...
