I just got my US-224 but am already a little annoyed with the bundled Cubasis. Does anyone have recomendations for some new software? Thanks

Cubasis is not the most intuitive, but if you work through its learning curve, it's a good piece of software.

Unfortunately, as it is bundled, the pdf manual sucks, and there is no hard copy. You may find yourself getting into problems that you can't easily resolve.

Lots of people around here will recommend n-track, Cubase, Cool Edit Pro (now Adobe Audition), and others. I am leaning toward getting Audition, personally, as I am pleased with Cool Edit 2000.

multitrackers i like....and use
powertracks pgmusic.com 29 bucks. dont be fooled by the low price.
ask powertrakkers at the forum at pg if you think i'm lying.
also magix music studio 2005 - about 80 bucks for the new version.
runs rock solid. too many features to list. you wont need anything else.
i bought both magix and powertracks and am set for years with more options than i ever need. others i like are n track, traktion and multitrackstudio.com.
all the best.

Thanks for the replies, I'll look into that software. Meanwhile, while I have my bundled Cubasis, I have a few questions. If it supports 16 audio tracks, but has an 8 channel mixer, how can I get all of the tracks onto the mixdown besides making two seperate mixdowns and then mixing them?

Ahhh, you can add tracks. :D

At work right now, so would have to wait till I get home to remember how.

I'm talking about channels not tracks. If I have eight tracks recorded and have them assigned to chanels 1-8 respectivley and I want to record another track how can I get that 9th track to sound during playback if all 8 channels are occupied?
