anybody ever use "something else" as pegs for their guitar. i got new strings for my old guitar but then found out i had no pegs. be creative, give me some ideas!

Are you talking about bridge pins? If so you can get them pretty cheap at most music shops like Guitar Center.

ya i know but theres no store near me and i wanna play NOW!

10 penny nails in the holes..???

Put paneling nails through the ball ends and thread the strings fron the inside out..??

Thread the A string through the ball end of the E string, G through the D, E through the B and then thread the strings through from the inside... Might cause tuning to be difficult this way though..

You could use something else, but there's a good chance it will either alter the holes or you just plain won't be able to get the objects out. If you're lucky, oversized bridge pins and some reeming will fix the problem after you've mamed the holes, but it's best not to count on that.

thats a brilliant idea crash. bit tricky to do though. i tried it with a nail, two pegs, two wall pegs and a art paint brush. didnt work so well. broke one string and wrecked another, sounds horrible cant tune it. let this be a lesson to all!

Thanks, but I am not sure there's a lesson to be learned there...

I don't recommend it, but i've used plastic hollow wall anchors before by putting the ball end of the string in, push the anchor in, then screw a small screw into the anchor so it expands slightly and holds in place. This was just a temp "fix" mind you.

Good GOD NO!!!!!!!

You'll ruin the bridge plate, and FAST.

Get real bridge pins, their really cheap (I sell plastic ones for 50 cents). It will be worth the wait.

If you MUST play not, use a bit of dowel, and as always remember to NEVER push the pins in hard. They are not there to hold the string down, only to keep it from moving laterally. The bridge, top, and bridge plate keep the strings down.

Have you tried golf tees? They might just work.

They do, in fact, though you have to cut off the heads.

So what if it ruins the guitar.
you gotta think about things in the short term.
ROCK ON!

And the best part about this approach is, when you're done playing, you can launch a few balls off the bridge with your driver. FORE!!!!!! :D

Well, if you don't care just grab some deck screws and permanently mount the strings to the bridge....

ROCK ON!!!
