hey everybody,
i got my new m-audio evolution midi controller yesterday, thanks to studica.com. A while ago, moskus, you posted a link to a page which shows how to set up as a control surface. Well i did that and it sounds great, it's gonna make life much easier to mix with the faders and knobs. One thing i'm wondering though, is there a way to program it a bit deeper or is that what i'm stuck with (the bare minimum?). For example i wish i could make a template with a bus that had several effects on it, like reverb, delay, autotune and compression. I would set a control surface preset so i could activate/deactivate the various effects, and set the knobs up to control certain perameters of that effect... Also i would make a preset that controlled the eq of sonar. Do you think this can be done or is that wishful thinking?

Thanks for the help once again.

I don't know... or to be honest: I don't remember. But check out what you can do in the Generic Control Surface plugin. I think you should be able to do that, but I'm not sure...

cool. thanks for the help guys.
I have one more stupid question but i have to ask it. I am wondering why my keyboard is able to save presets. I mean, in sonar 3, there is a plug in thatlets you configure your control surface and lets you save a preset in there. When you want that setup, you go to thatplugin and choose it from the drop down. Why would i need to save to the keyboard itself, and how does that work??
How does the software know if i want the preset from the keyboard to be conrolling the midi data or the preset from the plugin?? man i'm confused....

Which Evolution actualy do you use, minofifa?

ohh geez.... i'm at work and i can't remember the model name. it is the largest evolution keyboard. it has 61 keys (60 something), faders, knobs and buttons. it's like the MKF-61C or something like that.

i figured i could get some of my work done quicker using my keyboard and key bindings but i'm having trouble programming the keybard. How do i know what key is C1?? my keyboard allows me to change octaves so i think this is adding to my problem. Also it says, at the top of the keybindings window, that i need to assign a shift midi key. Does this mean that the key i coose for this must be pressed in combination with the desired key? There is also an "enable" checkbox. Is this so that if i check than keybindings are ineffect and if it is not checked then the midi keyboard will work as normal?

Thanks for the help

A C1 is an octave above the lowest C you can play (the lowest being C0). :)

great help

i also just bought the 461c evolution and have had fun last night - but need to under stand what all the faders and knobs and button will allow ne to do

thanks lopie. I'll give it a shot after work and let you know how it goes
