Got a tough one to figure out here

I have an Alesis Audio IO2 audio interface, my amp is a Peavey Vypyr and I'm using ezdrummer. So I have decided to record direct.I'm recording via USB from my amp. ezdrummer is playing thru my speakers via my interface.I have my cans plugged into my amp so I can monitor what I'm playing as I record. But the thing is, how can I hear the drums via ezdrummer as I'm recording which goes via my audio interface. My interface does have direct monitoring so I'm trying to figure out all the pieces to this puzzle so everything works together. Any ideas?

The USB from your amp can't use the IO2's direct monitoring feature. There may be other "two USB devices at once" issues. There has to be some sort of analog direct output on the amp, perhaps the headphone output, intended to cover that function. Connect that to your interface.

Or just put a mic on it.
