yep, haven't put up a new one for a while. just a 1st draft demo of one I'm working on. I'm not settled on it yet, but it's coming around. have a listen.

"round here"

a/e guitar stereo thru J-station (just playing around, not sure I like that), acoustic guitar and vocals thru v67 and bluetube.

Thanks folks,

dtb

Very nice and friendly mood, this song. It kinda goes on and on without anything exciting happening, but that's probably best for this type of song. And you've got an adorable voice.

I'm not too fond of the very direct sounding guitars, though. But it's a demo, right? :)

I'll say: keep working on it! Curious how the finished result will sound...

Hey Ped., I'm with ya man. I love the a/e guitar, but I got some more tweaking to play with. Prob. be all acoustic by time I get satisfied with it.

Thanks for the listen.

First... DAMN fine tune Dan!

I liked the DI and miced mixed. I thought it was very unique sounding. It seemed that the DI guitar kinda overpowered the miced guitar during the choruses. But it definitely has a different flavor than some of your other tunes.

rustyfingers, thanks man, and like I said, the a/e thing is very appelling, but it'll take a lot of fooling with before I'm happy. And I too like this tune. Gotta do a lot more work to it.

Jeez, you agree easily DTB! :D

Why didn't you change the guitarsound before posting? ;)

well you know, Pedulist, it did sound a little better on my sound system, but it really kinda sucked on the puter. And the guitar is new too. So maybe trying some different things will get me out of a rut with my tunz, which this tune is somewhat different from my other material. Anyway, if some of the concerning ears here, hear things different from my own, then it really helps me find direction. Hell, that's why I'm here anyway.

It has a lot of good qualities to it but I think it needs to take another direction at some point to create more interest. Maybe a bridge section in different key or, maybe a solo in another key or a modulation or something. Then when you get back to the same chords again it will sound like it came home rather then being redundant. Just my opinion.

The recording sounds good. The tones are a matter of if that's the sound you're going for.

Nice job, I like the song

Joe

hey Smokey, that's a very good point. Pedullist mentioned doing something also. And your're right. It needs a break in there somewhere.

Gee, Thanks folks. These comments are great.

Sounds real fine as always Dan.
Just gettin my guitar and playin always brings me back too!:D

I don't know if it helps any,but with my J station it sounded best when I played it twice in mono and then panned it stereo, rather than use the stereo outs.
Really changed the sound.

A lot of guys play it through their monitors and mic them too, though I never tried it.

Did you check out their website,a lot of free patches and their latest updates.

I really like this song, looking foward to the next take.:)

Pete

Pete, thanks for the listen, and the tip. I never thought of doing it that way. Another great reason to bring your tunz here. Good feedback. And mic'ing the speakers is great. Can't wait to try these things out.

Thanks man.

Dan

hi dan

i used to plug my guitar up direct and get that same tone... :) brings back memories.
you have a nice melody going on there.. neil youngish
you might want to roll off some of you low end off of the guitar.. I can hear some booms in there.
you have a cool voice also... really nice.
enjoyed the listen! thanks!

Hi Dan,
I like the acoustic mic-ed guit...
that direct kind of tone sort of sounds like it's going through a chorus effect....a little bass heavy abd tinny at the same time...
I don't like it either....just me though...ya know?

I like the tune though man....it is most definitely Neil Youngish...cool lyrics....good vox....I like the doubling...

Take it easy man,
Joe

since the last tune or two I`ve noticed another facet on the stone showing thru on u man. This is cool thing you got going. I like the new sounds your getting. When you get them tweaked where your satisfied I think this tune should get some extra production. Its really fine Dan.

having avoided reading other replies...

The main guitar is too direct sounding and...uh too comtrived. Like the reverb program is taking the stage.

I like the song and lyrics.

I get some thumping, I believe from the body mic or pickup in the guitar, it gets loudest right after 2:00. That needs to be fixed, I would put a low cut on the whole rythym guitar, or retrack with another sound.

Good tune, that guitar sound is the only thing keeping it off my playlist.

JMarcomb, thanks, new toys make you try new stuff. some work, some don't. and I like the tune, so it'll be tracked some more.

joro, yeah, it's pretty well discussed here. got to work on that direct thing, or maybe go acoustic all the way. thanks.

Toki, hey man, I'll be tweaking. and yes, I'm working on getting a new (different) sound from my other tunz. there's a few good things happening. thanks.

jake-owa, thanks for the comments and suggestions. like I said, it seems to be a vote to get rid of the direct sound on this demo, or at least do some major tweaking.

Thanks folks, these comments, hopefully, well guide me thru a good little tune. all ready have some thoughts and ideas.

Dan

good tune d! your guitar sound used to be better though.. I would undo whatever I did to the guitar.. the song is a good one..

I'm loading a new cut as I type. And as agreed upon in this thread, one guitar track sucks. Check out the new track in a little while. I think it should be a little better.
